I am on cycle day 15 and had an IUI on Monday (day 12). My breasts are really tender still and I don't know why. I go to the dr. tomorrow for my progestrone level which is always low (the highest its even been was 5). My new RE told me they use vaginal suppositories. Has anyone used these? I don't really know what to expect. Any help would be great.. Thanks

Yes. I used progesterone suppositories. They aren't too bad. They are just really difficult to get in place without coming back out again. You have to push them up as far as you can. My husband was able to help me out a few times, althought it totally grossed him out. I put one in before I went to bed every night.

I used follistim and I over stimulated last month so they called off my IUI. We had timed intercourse and I used the suppositories after I triggered. Unfortunately, I got my period. There wasn't much side effects from the progesterone. I had really sore breasts and very sensitive nipples.

You may be having sore breasts now from the stimulation drug you used. I had the same reaction to the follistim/ovidrel (I'm not sure which one caused it). It should go away in about 10 days. Or, hopefully, if you get pregnant, it won't go away for you. Soreness can be an early pregnancy symptom as well. Good luck to you!

I used vaginal suppositories 3 times a day with our last IVF cycle (in conjunction with PIO). I was concerned since I am usually easily irritated by suppositories but I was fine with progesterone. I put one in when I got to work in the morning (that way it did not come out during the walking part of my commute, one after lunch and the last right before I went to bed. You may need a light panty liner but maybe not. I didn't usually need one. Good luck!

I had to take them when I was trying and now i have to take then until im 10 weeks. I was very lucky and mine came with an aplicater. It was about the size of a tampon and kinds workewd the same way. To keem them from falling out I always sit or lay down when I put them in and stay that way for 5-10 minutes. They are working. I also have really low progesterone and when i had it tested Monday it was at 33. They do suck and are super nasty but they work. Good luck and lots of baby dust.

Thanks for posting this, I am getting ready to start them too. I am not really excited about it, but I did ask the doctor what else I can do...

Hi Krriss,

I used them for 2 weeks after my last IUI. I had to put 1 in every night and used an applicator which was pretty easy for me. I did feel some funky cramping and was a little cranky but it wasn't too bad. I'm sure you'll do great. Good luck with your 2 weeks!!!
