I have been on Progesterone in oil (Butt Shots) for a little over a week now, and I notice that it really doesn't hurt until some hours after the shot and then the pain lasts for about 12 + hours. Does anyone have any advice for reducing this pain, because it has gotten worse and I have to sit all day for my job?

I sit on a heating pad prior to the shot and afterward. I am sorry you are feeling a lot of pain. Those shots are no fun.

Sounds weird, but give yourself another week and I think you will feel better. Your butt has to get used to the shots. Make sure you massage the injection spot after wards, in a circular motion, for about 3 minutes. This made a big difference with me. Also, my husband would grip the syringe for a few minutes beforehand to warm it up just a little bit. Make sure you rotate locations, and I think I had better luck towards the outside of my glutes, almost felt like it was near my hip, but it wasn't. It was still in the quadrant, but that was definitely the money spot for me. Especially since when I sat I wasn't really on the injection site. Best of luck to you!!!! The shots kind of suck but I liked them far better than the suppositories...

As courage said make sure you massage the spot of the shot right afterwards so that the oil gets distributed. Also I had DH hold the syringe with oil for about 5-10 minutes. This heated up the oil and made it a lot easier to disperse.

I am not looking forward to PIO shots, but will definitely follow your advice.

I use warm compresses afterwards which help some, but my bottom looks like a pin cushion.
