i've been on an otc prenatal vit for over a year now. it only bothers me when i'm purchasing it lol because then i think the cashier might ask me if i'm preggo...

Yeah, it can be hard to take them every day. I remember when I went though my first bottle, a 9 month supply, and I thought that I still didn't have a baby. I don't have a perscription for them, I just take the over the counter ones. Hopefully we will all get our babies soon.

I've been taking them for about a year now. I know how you feel, but at the very least, we are getting some vitamins and minerals that we could be missing. I since there is no harm in taking them, I'll keep doing it until we get a BFP or we decided enough is enough.

I have been taking them for a year and have the same thought of "what in the world am I taking them for". But I know somewhere down the road it will pay off.

Prenatals have been a part of my life for about 2 years also. I just wish that all of this time, energy, money, & heartache will finally lead us all to some happier times & BFPs for everyone!!

I actually take a chewable vitamin because it has more things than the prenatal except for th folic acid, but I take 3 mg of folic acid a day as well. I am a transplant patient so I take lots of pills and supplements anyway so a few more is no big deal. It's worth the hassle.

I've been taking them for about a year or so too! I forget from time to time, but it actually doesn't bother me to take them, because to me I just think of it as a vitamin and I usually take a daily vitamin anyway.

Which RX brands do you guys take? I am taking Primacare 1 and at first they were fine but now they are really bothering my stomach.

I took over the counter prenatals for 22 months before being put on Duet DHA prescription ones by my new RE. they are a two pill combo pack, one is regular vitamins the other is omega oils.I did notice the omega oil ones on the shelf with the other OTC ones last month.these have a copay of $30 for a 30 day supply (ouch)

I was just talking with my Dad about this today! I have been taking them for years too. The good thing about mine is to get the full dose you need to take 4 pills. When we are not in cycle I only take 2 pills. But I also stop after a cycle fails for a few days. It is my way of rebelling because I am hurt and angry.

I think the people at the health food store I get them at think I am nuts because I have been taking them for years and never walked in there pregnant.

But I make sure at least a month before a cycle to take at least the half dose and folic acid. If I take the full dose I skip the extra folic acid.

I stop the Prenatals in between tries because 1, it makes me mad to be taking them and 2, they're prescription and even covered by insurance they're still $30+ for just 30 days worth. In fact, I've decided when I'm done with this pack, I'm going to just get over the counter prenatals. My RE has always said they're fine, I just got the prescription ones from my OB as her way of offering a little something extra to the TTC process.

You know what's crazy? I've been taking these mega dose vitamins (Preg-Vit folic 5) twice a day (the blue and pink pill) for almost 3 months, and I actually feel better---my moods are more stable and I was able to handle the IVF much better this time. I think it might have been the extra nutrients I was getting!!! So yes, they are a pain (and I haven't been taking them for that long, to be sure) but I think they are worth it.

I starting buying the OTC ones since they are cheaper. No sense in spending an extra $50 a month when I wasn't even pregnant! It is a vitamin though so it is good for you to take regardless!

Well, ladies, I've been taking these sons of guns for 3 1/2 years. I keep thinking I'm going to give birth to a giant vitamin instead of a baby, if I ever do give birth. I guess they're good for me though so I'll keep on taking them.

I love them regardless and would take them most likely no matter what. But with all the work we are doing TTC, it makes sense to give our bodies a head start if possible. Plus, all the stress an ddrugs and hormones wreak havoc on our systems so WE need the extra vitamins and such even before we get preggers.

The cost is frustrating, and some days I silently rebel and don't take them that day - but overall I think they are great.
