Hi ladies. Well, I had 3 IVF cycles 2 years ago (finally got preg on my 3rd try) and now we have gone back to my RE for a consult to see about doing another cycle. He wanted to do a hysteroscopy to make sure everything was fine inside my uterus (last time everything was ok). This time I was told I have a small polyp that would decrease my chances of IVF working and I should have it removed. I was kind of in shock and not expecting this at all and honestly a bit scared of the surgery. Do any of you have any experiences with this? How was the surgery?

I had polyps removed from my uterus about 8 years ago. Omg, I was so terrified- and so scared of the surgery. Just the fact of being butt naked under a flimsy gown lol, and me being knocked out and not having a clue what's going on. (Not that I didn't trust my dr, just general anxiety about surgeries) But, it was something that had to be done. Make sure you have someone with you, it's nice to have someone there while you prep you to go back. I was a sleep (obviously) and I woke up near the end of the surgery when they were transporting me back to the bed from the operation table.
When I got back into the room- I had MAJOR MAJOR cramps. But they immediately gave me pain meds and it was gone. I think that was the only time I endured pain, and maybe some discomfort but nothing major. The first day I took it easy and by a couple days I was back to normal. It was a very noninvasive surgery- I took a Fri off so I could have a 3 day weekend and was back to work on Monday. Good luck, you will do fine in the surgery!! Sending prayers your way!!

I had my polyp removed when I started IVF. They found one when they did hysteroscopy. It was small but they won't do IVF before your removed it. My OBJ did the surgery. It a fall anastesea, takes 15 minutes and you are fine on next day. So don't be afraid. My stupid OBJ punch a hall in my uterious first time, so I had to have surgery 6 weeks latter. It was no big deal. Plus it nice that they will remove polyp because it can grow in to cancer (small chance but better not to take one). Good luck.

I JUST had this procedure 2 months ago, we are going through IUI's to get to IVF- my insurance covers me after 3 failed drug induced IUI's. She said it would just make it more hospitable environment for an embryo- that they don't know if it has any negative repercussions but that in IVF, you want things to be *perfect*. The worst part for me was going under- I was not expecting to be out the way I was- My surgery was at 9, done before 10 but I was asleep all day almost into the next- which if you can relax around- wasn't bad- I was still sort of useless the following day as well. Not too much cramping- not more than a typical heavy period would bring about. Other than that- I looked at it like my uterus just got a face lift! Good luck and don't panic. XO

I had several polyps removed in August. It was a breeze.
