So I took my ovidrel shot tonight and I'm freaking out because I injected the shot before getting all the air bubbles out. There was a huge air bubble in the top of the syringe and I was so anxious to inject at exactly 9 PM and I just injected really quick without getting rid of that bubble. Is this going to affect anything? DH is scaring me saying doing the injection with a big air bubble is dangerous! Please help me feel better about this!

I think I did the same thing with my 1st ovidrel shot too! I was so worried about everything else that I realized at the end that I injected the air too. I was a little freaked, but that was 4 1/2 months ago, and I'm still OK :) I remember pulling the shot out of the sharps container at least twice to make sure I got all the medicine out. You'll be OK. It's scary though, you don't want to mess up. Good luck to you!

BTW, I think air bubbles are only dangerous when you inject directly into a vein...not just into tissue.

Thanks for your reply! I've done ovidrel in the past but it's been over a year and with my IUIs they just give you a 4 hour time frame, not an exact hour. I was so worried about the time I didn't pay attention to the air. The last thing I want to do is ruin this IVF by doing my ovidrel wrong! Thanks again.

I ask the same question the nurse. She said it only dangerous if you inject in the vain, plus it has to big a big amount, not just one air bubble. So you did good. Now when I inject staff, I check for air bubble on the top the needle, it kind of a check sing for me that everything is clear and no air in the needle.

Don't worry injecting a air bubble won't hurt you as long as it isn't in the vein. And even then it has to be a pretty good size air bubble. You should be just fine and good luck!!!

Hope you are not feeling any more stress after everyone else's replys...the only way it can be dangerous is if you are actually in a blood vessel- and even then you would have to have MANY cc's of air to create a significant issue.

I think it is only dangerous if you hit a vein... meaning that you don't want to inject air into a vein. Your injection was intramuscular, do you are fine. No worries... take a nice deep breath and take special care!
