I lost my job in mid September and stayed on COBRA with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illnois. I also kept my dental, so it was $425 a month, but almost all fertility treatment was paid for. My company just dropped BCBS (sad, sad) and now is United Health Care. My COBRA premium is $354 (no dental). This is for individual coverage.

I will likely go back to my husband's insurance after January. It's so much less to add me on and since neither company covers fertility treatments, I can put the money towards medical bills. Fun Fun.

When my dh lost his job a couple of years ago, our COBRA for the both of us was $750. As soon as I could I got on the insurance plan where I work because I could not afford the $750. My dh is now self employed. We got my dh self only insurance policy. Generally, if there are no health issues, you can get males self only insurance a lot cheaper than the COBRA coverage.

I'm on Cobra and coverage for me and my daughter is over $800 per month. My coverage is the same as it was when I was employed. The costs are outrageous but you have to do what you have to do. Not having medical coverage is a scary thing to juggle with. GL to you!!!

it costs 102% of the coverage cost. the cost depends on how much coverage you keep, but needless to say it's very expensive. good luck hun.
