Hi girls,
I am stressing really badly! I read on the net that you can use OPKs as HPT Now I did one today not expecting much (I'm on 14DPO and I didnt use first morning urine) and I had 2 lines though the test line was not as strong as the control line In a panic I used a digital HPT, which was negative I realised that it may be too early to test with a digital so I raced down to the local supermarket and got one of those early HPT, which also came out negative (though by this stage I had very little pee left LOL) so I waited a few hours and did another OPK, which didnt show the second line at all.
So my question is could it have been a positive or am I hoping for too much?
I must sound completely insane but I just need to know what you girls think
p.s- I also have been nauseous for about a week, and a bit dizzy. Oh god help me!

I've never heard that you could use an OPK as a HPT. I'm not positive though. To my knowledge, they measure different things. An OPK is looking for a surge in your LH (luteinizing hormone)and a HPT measures HCG. I hope you still end up with a BFP! Good luck.

LH and hCG are almost identical except that hCG has one component that LH does not. An OPK can test positive when you are pregnant but an HPT will not test positive when you're having your LH surge. So, yes, it is possible that you are pregnant or it could just be that you have some LH in your system. I'd say try again in the morning. Good luck!

The test line would have been darker than the control line. I did this before and it does work. But it's not a good idea. Call and get a beta done if your not sure. Good luck.

I used an OPK as a HPT but I used the smiley face OPK's. I was too scared to use a HPT in case it was negative but in my weird mind if the OPK was negative there was still a chance that I could be pregnant. I did get the smiley face at 14dpo. I then did a HPT the next day and it was positive. For the smiley faces to read positive the test line has to be as dark or darker than the control line. Like someone else said you can have a bit of LH in your urine at anytime so to use an OPK as a HPT the test line has to be as dark or darker to be positive for pregnancy-----whereas with a HPT you just need a second line. My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
