...OK I just HAVE To ask this question even though I think I know the answer.
Does the OPK detect hcg in your system or just the LH? So say your pregnant and you take an OPK will it come out positive?
The reason I ask is that my RE told me to take another OPK the day after my surge to see if it was still positive after I gave myself the hcg trigger shot...so I thought why did they want me to do that...to make sure I got enough of my trigger? And if so then that means it detects hcg too?

Yeah OPK's detect HCG. When I was pregnant with my son I did an OPK because I was too scared to do a HPT. After the OPK was positive I followed it up with a HPT.

HCG is complex and made of many compounds... one of which is LH... so the test for LH on an opk will detect the LH like component of HCG... (this is the reason HCG is used as a trigger) make sense??

So if I got a negative on my OPK on Sat. then that means no Hcg was detected. Sat. was way too early anyway...but I just thought I'd try it for the heck of it!

I'm lost on this too. I took four OPKs last Thursday Friday and Saturday and all were positive but each HPT was negative, including the one I took yesterday.

I got a positive on my OPKs initially when I WAS pregnant and my HPT didn't turn positive for another 2 days. I tried different kinds of OPKs because I had them lying around and the Clearblue easy worked, but the generic store brand (answer brand) did not turn positive...that was how I knew my positive meant I WAS PREGGO! Good luck and I think congratulations! Give the HPT more time!

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
