So yesterday I stood up from my couch and I had this terrible pain in my left ovary. It actually brought me to the floor in tears for about ten minutes. After that the pain subsided but I was still very crampy. At this poiint in my cycle is when I get extremly bloated so thats nothing new, but still if I move the wrong way it really hurts. I am very crampy on both sides as well. I also feel like I am retaining. (Background: I am cd 19- I had my IUI last wed on cs 13. My cycle never lasts more then 23 days while on meds) Any thought on whether I could be hyperstimulating or something else?? Please help!!
I've gone through 4 IUI's, but only one of those was with stim meds (Follistim). I produced 10+ eggs so my RE cancelled the cycle due to risk of multiples. He said that I needed to be careful and walk gingerly, not lift anything, etc... as I'd be very sore and could cause ovarian torsion. I was, in fact, very sore that month and did have to be careful.
I have also hyperstimulated. This happened in my first (of two) IVF cycle. The average ovary is 2cm and each of mine measured over 10cm each. Plus I had a lot of abdominal fluid. It was very, very uncomfortable and ovarian pain is a common symptom of it.
I had egg retrieval surgery on April 26th. About a week after my surgery, I was flipping from my left side to my back while laying in bed. I had horrific pain like you describe and I was screaming out in pain. It hurt for several days after that and I had to turn, walk, cough, move VERY carefully...
Not sure if my stories have helped you in any way, but wanted to share that you are not alone.
Please be sure to tell your RE/obgyn what you are experiencing. They might call you in for an u/s to make sure you're ok (and not OHSS).
