I think Bell has some awesome advice. There is nothing that takes your mind off this nonsense like liquor and non-baby people. I also joined a supper club of incredibly intelligent, career-oriented women-- who DO NOT talk about babies.
I relocated to another country for my husband and didn't know many people to start, but we have had 7--- seriously SEVEN---- pregnancy announcements in the last 6 weeks-- mostly from people trying for 1-2 months. We are now the only couple left! And these people constantly say things like "you are so lucky you can drink" or "why don't you guys have a baby- isn't it about time"..... I like to think they are clueless and not absolutely horrible humans, but who knows.
One thing that helps us, is every time we have another failure, we plan something fun. It is sad, but it does give me solace to have things in my life (mostly travel) that the baby people can't. We have been all over the place, and I know someday when I'm old and have had kids, I will be so glad we did that. So splurge on something.. just because you can.
And on a more bitter note, my acupuncturist, who is great, gave me permission to get angry, jealous, and bitter---- once a month, on Day 1... just let yourself feel as pissed off as you want. Then move on to the next.
And don't feel like a freak- we've all got something keeping us from joining the Baby Brigade (although we won't suck so much when we do!)
Best of luck to you! If you need to vent, go right on ahead!!!
