Well let me encourage you that your age is only a number when i comes to God and giving miracles. i have TWO cousins both who are in their late 30's or early 40's who have had children in the last few years. One of them actually has TWO kids now! So do not fret my friend about being 43

I TRULY HOPE THAT ONE OF YOUR IUI CYCLES GIVE YOU A BFP!!!!!

Welcome to the site and good luck with your IUI. Amazing that you've got an insurance company willing to help pay for fertility treatments. I think these days that's pretty rare.

DH and I have been trying for about 2 years and all of our tests have also come back "normal" so we've moved onto adoption and while we wait for a child to join our family, we will keep trying with timed intercourse and Fermera or clomid.

Hello Hopeful, welcome to DS. It's a great place to meet women that will get you through the hard days and make you laugh along the way. I say you are only as young as your heart and mind so try not to worry to much about your age. Many woman in your situation have gotten their BFP. Being patient and waiting for your real plan isn't easy but you'll get there.

Yes welcome to the site and this place is a refuge in the IF world we are a part of. Nobody understands what we are going through except for eachother. I want to offer you my condolences of having to go through procedures that you are pretty confident won't work. It's tough waiting and waiting for the real thing, and being consistantly disappointed throughout. However, I will hve my fingers crossed that you have a happy outcome out of an unexpected situation. Plus, atleast you get to do SOMETHING while you wait to start IVF, and how blessed you are that it will be paid for! I'm in my 2ww from my 2nd IUI, and IVF is supposed to be my next step, but me and DH need to figure out how to come up with $10 Grand out of pocket to pay for it.

Welcome! You have found an amazing site with a lot of amazing, kind ladies:). You will find so much support and lots of stories that will give you some comfort and make you feel not so alone in this cruel IF world. You are so very lucky you have insurance that covers...most don't.

DH and I have been trying almost 3yrs. He checks out perfectly fine...the problem is me, I have low ovarian reserve or as I like to call it "shitty eggs". We had our first failed IVF this past Sept. We are planning an FET with our last 2 eggs in feb, march thn it's onto DE.

Welcome to the group! This is a great place to be for support... I'm also in NYC, so very nice to see a neighbor here. Cyclone is right, even though doing IUI's suck, you are very lucky that you have IF coverage. I don't have any. What clinic are you using? I go to RMA... and are you familiar with Sart.org? It will give success rates by clinic and my age group....that's the one thing I wish I knew when starting because I wasted a lot of time with a crappy clinic with low success rates when I first started. I look forward to getting to know you!

Welcome! This is a fantastic place for support. Like you, we tried 3 IUI's. They didn't work for us, but I felt like I needed to start there since our insurance covers them. For me, I just tried to be realistic. When I felt period-like cramps starting I said to myself "Don't be upset. YOu know you'll probably get your period." Being realistic has helped me some, but this site has helped more than anything.

Thank you all for such a warm welcome and such kind and helpful messages!! The infertility struggles have made me cry many tears of sadness, but your messages have brought me tears of joy (well, these days I'm not actually sure what the tears are all about, but it seems nice to think I had tears of joy!) Either way, I am so touched with all the positive feedback. I already feel so much better and less isolated. Had my 2nd IUI this morning. The nurse told me my DH"s sperm is excellent, and I was like, well he's not the problem, I am!!! And I don't know if it's worse to know what is wrong, or to be in our situation where its just unexplained and most likely my aging and over ripe eggs :( I am terrified over the idea of IVF....I have a million fears about IVF between the physical and emotional pain. My insurance only covers a portion of it, so we will still pay a lot out of pocket. Does everyone feel this scared?? I'm guessing yes? Seems a lot of people make the decision to do IVF a lot easier than we have, but maybe that's just because I haven't really discussed it in detail with too many women. I am really frustrated because I am both my insurance plan and my DH's, and in Sept. my company announced we had two weeks until we changed insurance carriers - I went from 100% full fertility coverage to zero coverage. I am trying very hard not to kick myself for not doing IVF sooner, when I was fully covered, but I know that is a waste of energy and time because I can't change the past, I can only try and do what I can to improve my situation going forward. But, it's really hard to think about how I had full coverage and now I'm only partially covered under my DH's plan. I guess all things considered, we are still so fortunate to have some benefits. I hear of so many stories of people going into deep debt over IVF. I want to be careful not to complain or whine too much here, and turn off all of you kind ladies who have already reached out, but then I can't help but wonder, isn't that part of the point and place to vent!? Thank you again for already making a difference for me....I am looking forward to getting to know you all and share this journey.

This is the perfect place to vent so don't feel bad about that. As long as we all respect each other and what we all go through you shouldn't hold back on how you feel.

As for you being scared of IVF, all I can share is my experience. My RE only gave us the option for IVF so to me it was never a question of are we going to do it. That was our option and that was was I was going to do. That being said, I hate taking meds and neddles in particular. I did my first IVF cycle in May. It wasn't easy but at this point I know I'll endure anything for a baby and I know I'll get through it fine... well as long as it ends in a BFP.

If you have specific questions about IVF you should post them, I'm sure you'll get lot's of answers.

Welcome HopefulinNYC. I must admit that I googled Jennifer Anniston and Justin Theroux's ages when I read your first post. You know, I think think they live in NYC too...sigh...but he's a couple years younger. ;-)

As for the decision to do IVF - YES! It was a struggle for DH and I. I had originally said I didn't want to do IVF at all. Then, we got pregnant on our first try - and it ended in miscarriage and I was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis.

It was hard because we had JUST started TTC, and it was like - well we could try for only 1 month and give up...or....
We chose the or. I start shots tonight after months leading up to this day.

I see you have possible endo, that stinks. Q: do you have pain with sex (like maybe you think sometimes DH is just a very big man and that's why it's tender when he goes to town)? Do you have digestive problems? Are you often bloated?

These are just a few signs of endo. I wish I'd known earlier that I have endo. All the pains I've had since I started my period are not normal (even if my mom said they were!).
