I have been waiting for IVF for the past 7 months and am due to start in August. I have postponed my wedding because I dont wish to plan a wedding while I am going through IVF.
Anyway I am due to go on holiday back home to England in two weeks to see family before the IVF kicks off and my Boss just resigned!! I am in a great position to get his job, I have basically just been waiting for him to leave to give me this opportunity for the last 5 years.
I am definately going to apply because I would be stupid not to but was wondering if anyone has any words of wisdom. I will basically be taking on a new and more challenging job about 3 months before IVF kicks off.
I cant miss the opportunity because if IVF doesnt work, 1, I will need the money but 2, I could spend the rest of my life avoiding things that might jeopordise IVF and never actually end up with a baby!!

I'm hoping it will be a good distraction, am I being naive??

I think you are right in saying you can not spend the rest of your life avoiding things because of IVF. I say go for it. Apply for the new possition. It sounds like a great oportunity. And come August if you have the new job and you are starting IVF, then you can work through it all and figure out how to make it work.

I agree, go for the new job! There are limits we have to draw when it comes to IVF and it sounds like this is an opportunity you shouldn't pass up. Good luck!!!

I say go for it - since it's your boss you'd be replacing, you should know some of the stuff already, right? And you know the company, it's not like you'd be starting from scratch.

And no matter what happens with any of us, I think the biggest lesson we can learn is that life "SHOULD" go on. No matter what our outcome is - we shouldn't let IF control our life. We may or may not get what we want and in the end we should be able to look back on our life and be happy. I don't want to be a person that let one thing control me and waste the other good things that could have come my way.

Go for it! So happy that the opportunity came up. It's with the same company and you presumably know some of what he does, so it sounds perfect.

IVF is like taking a couple long weekends. You can totally do that 3 months after starting a new job.

I agree! You should do it. 11 years of ttc has taught me not to pass things up. I gave up so much and still don't have a baby. You will kick yourself later if IVF doesn't work out. Best Wishes!!!

Thanks guys!! I think you're right, by the time I am due to go on Maternity leave I will have been in the job nearly a year and thats only if it works first time!

As you all say I know most of his job....to be honest I've basically been doing a lot of it anyway so I dont think it will be too stressful and I'm not worried about the leave, just wasnt sure if I was underestimating how tough IVF can be, seeing as its my first try.
