Well- I am on Gonal F this cycle and plan to have an IUI. I just got cleaned out from endo (for the 2nd time) in August.... today I went in for my cycle day 9 B/W and U/S and got some disappointing news (for me at least). I have 2 growing follicles at a 17 and 16. Estriodol is at 314. The rest of the follicles are teeny. I am disappointed b/cuz the last 4 cycles of IUI (2 on Femara, 2 on Gonal F) I had between 3-6 follies........ and it never worked. How is it going to work with 2? Do I proceed with an IUI still???

I have to go get B/W done again tomorrow to see where my estriodol is. I am doing another shot of 75 tonight. I know I'm lucky to have follicles, but I DO OV on my own. So going through this and getting two, is really not much of an improvement. Do we spend the 250 bucks for the IUI, or is it pointless???????? Help!!!!

I would still go through with the IUI if it was me. With 2 mature follicles, you still have double the chance of conceiving that a fertile woman would have. Good luck!

How does this Estradial level compare to before. If you started meds around Day 3, I think this is a really good level. And, as we always hear, it's quality that matters more than quantity. I'd hear what the doc has to say . . . and compare it to past estradiol levels that had more follicles . . . but would be leaning toward giving it a go, especially if your per egg estrogen level is better this cycle. If you don't have sperm issues, you could also consider doing the trigger and skipping IUI, doing it "on you own." Good luck whatever you decide!!!

with iui.... more is not alway better, and the like to see 150 est. for each follie and thats what you have, soooooo QUALITY NOT QUANTITY, plus, twins is nice, quadrplets are scary...... good luck

Personally I'd go with paying the $250 and give it a shot. Overall that's a small price to pay for chance to conceive. If I didn't do it, I'd always wonder if it would have worked. Whatever you decide, I hope and pray you get your BFP. Hugs.

I agree with everyone here. Believe me, if my RE had a heart and would try to get me even 2 follicles with drugs for my one and only IUI, I'd be thrilled.

She won't prescribe drugs for me and won't do a 2nd. It's either "Oh the age number and donor eggs" or nothing. In fact, I have to make up my mind with donor eggs by next cycle or she'll cut me off.

But she's the only one who would work with my eggs at my age.

So, I'm going for IUI with my lone little follicle that my ovaries will naturally produce. If I were you, I'd pay for the money and go for it.

After all, my IUI is going to cost my insurance $3K. And if my BF isn't on board, I have to dish out another $1K for the sperm.

2 Follies that respond well is still worth the IUI in my opinion. We've had cycles with 3 or 4 follies fail and are hoping that this cycle with just 2 will be our winner. The true thing to remember is that those two follies are getting ALL the meds and will be super mature. At least that is how I envision it with my very NON medical background. ;-)
