NCCAH - Anyone...?

Ok so I got tired of trying to accept the term "unexplained infertility". I decided to be proactive and try and figure things out on my own. I came across something called Non-classical Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia. A mouthful I know. There are many symptoms that fit me (excess facial hair, irregular periods, obesity, fatigue, acne, the symptoms of PCOS w/o the diagnosis and of course infertility)I have an appointment in early May to have the tests run for this condition. I'm figuring either way I'll get some sort of answer. The kick in the pants is that if I do have it, it is easily treated with a low dose steroid and can reverse infertility...$20,000 later and a $5 prescription could possibly fix it all! Anyone else heard of or had this?

I have heard of this. It was something I was told about before when I was first diagnosed with with PCOS. I say go for it. It won't hurt anything to check. I hope it's that simple. Good luck Winnie :)

I haven't heard of NCCAH but I say investigate it for sure. Many times a simple change can make all the difference in fertility. I've heard of people even changing their diet and getting that BFP. Have you had an insulin resistance test?

I've never heard of it but I'd definately get it checked out. Is it a bloodtest and does your insurance cover it? Good luck. I hope this is the missing puzzle piece for you!

never had the insulin resistance test. since it is diagnostic insurance will cover it. it is a blood test but it is multiple blood draws before, during and after a medication is administered

I asked about the insulin resistance because it's one of the tests they do to help diagnose PCOS. If you think you may have PCOS, ask your Dr. to add it to your lab work.

the dr(s) all concur that it is not PCOS...don't know how they determined that, but it was from 3 different drs

winnie that's interesting-thanks for doing the research. i've had all the symptoms of PCOS ACCEPT the big one-insulin resistance..

and of course, my dr telling me that if i "just lost some weight" i could probably get pregnant.

he was probably right-obesity is a factor-but what if it's nearly impossible to lose weight! it's a vicious cycle and if this low dose steroid can help all of that for you..i wish you nothing but the best of luck and keep us posted!!
