it was only a few things like two hats one for a boy and one for a girl and a card that is for a baby shower. i can understand where she is comming from and wanting me to get my hopes up for having a baby. she told me that she wants me to think about babies whenever i am looking up information about it or communicating on this board and that looking and touching the clothing will help me to relax. i have tried doing what she said and i will tell you it is working. holding the clothing in my hands and just looking at it puts me in that relaxed stage and makes me think about having a baby but i just worry that it will also get my hopes up too high and that i may come crashing down if i get a bfn. i can understand my family in trying to be supportive but unless you have been through infertility you realy have no idea what we are going through so i guess i cant blame my mother for trying because her heart is in the right place.

Good for you, if it helps you! I, on the other hand, am too chicken to buy anything. We bought our house 6 years ago so that we would have room for children and I had to make the baby's room into a den because it made me too sad. I am 14 weeks pregnant after IVF and I am still too chicken to buy anything.

i know your mother doesnt mean harm and her heart is in the right place, but she doesnt understand what you are going through. i find that people who do not understand tend to think they could fix your problem, especially those who are close to you. they cant bear to see you hurt, so they think of ways to make you feel better. just accept that people will not always understand and you cant control what they do or say. you can only do your part. remember sometimes good intention doesnt mean right. i think it is not healthy for us to accept baby items or purchase them. i think they do more harm than good. would you give somebody going through infertility, knowing what you know about infertility, baby items? there are no guarantees in life. the ifs are 50/50. you never know which side you will land on. there is nothing wrong with keeping hope close by, but dont set yourself up. put those baby hats away because i dont think they are helping you. if you are doubting what you are doing, it must not be good. dont let this consume your life. touching the baby items only feeds into your desire for a child, but this doesnt take care of your sanity. dont put too much pressure on yourself. i believe thinking about babies constantly screws with our psyche. take time for yourself. think about things that make you happy. dont loose touch of who you are. you are a person, not a baby machine that is broken.

I agree to what you said. I do sometimes feel like I am loosing touch with who I am.
