I just got off the phone with my MIL and I just mentioned in the conversation (man, am I stupid! I don't seem to learn my lessons!) that I had a doctor appointment in a week and a half. So this is the conversation:
"Why are you in such a hurry?"
"What do you mean, you don't think I should have another baby?"
"No, it's just that a lot of people have them 3 or 4 years apart" (Hello! My daughter turns 3 in October & last I heard, it still takes 9 months).
Then I was telling her that the summer is the only time we can do the treatments, and if we don't do them this summer, we have to wait until next year, and then she said,
"Where's your faith?"
"What do you mean? I have faith."
"You just said you would have to wait another year. How do you know it won't happen without the treatments? God has his own timeframe." I said, "I didn't say I would have to wait a year to get pregnant, I said I would have to wait a year to do more treatments." (She obviously has issues with the treatments--will you guys remind me to not ever say anything to her about them again?)...And then the whole "you need to not get so stressed out about it, and just relax" lecture...(What does she even know? She doesn't know if I'm stressing about it or not, and frankly, I feel like I have a good attitude at this point! Just because she could whip out four kids in a row without blinking an eye and then another one several years down the road). Anyway, I ended up telling her, "It's not like it's only been 6 months and I'm impatient or anything. It has been 2 years. Nothing has happened yet. Then she tried to get compassionate on me, "Yes, and that must be hard when you are longing for it that long." (That is not how it has been. I've been at peace with it. But what is wrong with trying to help it along so my daughter, who I would do anything for, can experience the joy of being a sister?) Then I said, "Well, we have talked about it and this is what we feel like we should be doing." Man, thank you so much for letting me vent!

I have shared stories about her before. She looks and acts just like Marie Barone from Everybody Loves Raymond. Seriously, same hair, body shape.
My husband's whole family acts like he is the chosen one, and they all assume that I am the reason we can't have a baby. It is brutal. I have cut my MIL out of the loop, it's the only way.
This woman cuts me down any chance she gets, and has the biggest mouth.
Over the past 6 years, I have learned to tune her out but often I feel like ripping out her frosted blond teased out hair piece by piece. Jason's mom introduces me as the woman who stole her son away and who "made him" move to Virginia. (his family lives in New Jersey) She has told me several times that I tore their family apart by forcing him to move out. AT AGE 24????
Wow, and yeah, he decided for himself to move out. I gave him no ultimatum.
Okay, let me rephrase that. I told him when he wanted to move in together that I would gouge my eyes out with a dull pair of chopsticks before moving into his parents house and sleeping on the plastic covered couch.
Aaaaargh!
