low sperm count & vitamins

On friday my hubby and i were given a blow that his count has dropped from 20 million to 6 million. Talk about a shock. They have started him on a cocktail of vitamins.
Vitamin C 500mg/twice daily
Vitamin E 400iu/twice daily
Vitamin B12 2400mcg/daily

He's also know been but on a diet, cutting out sugar, and caffine. He's a little resisant but being a tropper.

My question I have has anybody known of success using this to increase the sperm count. Any other advice on how we might be able to increase his count would be so apperciated.

I'm so sorry you got bad news, I really hope the vitamins help! My DH also has low counts (and no forward moving sperm), our RE recommended that he take l-carnitine and clomid. He hasn't had another SA done since then (we weren't given his counts with our IVF), but I have heard good things!

My husband took antioxidants and l-carnitine and we didn't see a dramatic change, but enough that we were able to fertilize all of our embryos in IVF. His count IS LOWWWW (like 10 ...not 10 million) but after the meds it was up to 150...so I mean, nothing extreme. But who knows, if your hubby was at 20 million maybe something else affected it - can be exercise, alcohol, sick etc. Good luck!

Were pretty new to this as well. No worry about asking questions and and all informations helps us right. We just started the vitamins and DH (dear hubby) has a appoinment for a blood work follwed by anthor SA hopefully that one is better. We are looking at doing IUI's with in the next couple months they say we have a better chance at concieving with DH count and i have pcos with 1 partial blocked tube.

Thanks ladies any and all advice is so apperciated. Helps even with keeping my hopes up.

From what I've heard, counts can change from month to month. Our RE recommended Fertility Blend for Men and said that it can really help. One of our issues is motility. I'm not sure what the pre-wash numbers were, but post wash we were around 6, then started taking Fertility Blend for 3 weeks and had taken multi-vitamin about a month before that and post wash went up to 13. it's supposed to take a full 3 months to take effect. We then had to take 3 months off due to cysts. The next cycle after that had good numbers including motility, but a lot were lost in the wash and brought the post wash count down to 6 again, ugh!!! Not sure why that happened since he had been taking Fertility Blend for over 4 months by then.

Keep your chin up...it might be back up to 20 next time!

My DH has the problem also, and he took a mutlivitamin, and coQ10 for 4 months in between SA and his count and motility did improve. Not sure if it was the vitamins but he continues to take them. Every case is so different, but it definitely can't hurt to take vitamins. I looked up the ingredients of one of those male fertility vitamins, and everything was in a regular multivitamin, except co Q10 and L-carnitine, and L-arginine. You can buy these separate for a lot cheaper at the grocery store, and that's what we did. Hope this helps.
