Hi everyone im just starting out. I just had my tubes removed due to hydrosalpinx an my re told me to start looking into treatment centers. I live in va an of course my insurance doesnt cover ivf but we are taking out a loan. My husband is in the military and we were going to go to washington dc because a military hospital there does the procedure for aprox $6000 but rumors are they will be closed by the time we have the finances. So i was wondering if you guys had any recomendations refering to how to start financially physically mentally an where to go close to where i live?

Hi Caress199, I have just recently had 1 failed IUI and waiting on results of my 2nd IUI. My RE told me to start looking into IVF and told me to go to the military hospital in DC. He didn;t mention anything about them closing. I am going to start with the paperwork and tests that need to be done next week. I know this is not much help. Hopefully you find a good clinic. I live in VA as well right now but will be moving to DC in Oct. I am really nervous about starting the IVF process. Good luck to you

I'm going to Shady Groves Fertiltiy please look them up www.shadygrovesgertiltiy.com! They have a Shared Risk 100% fefund package, you get up to 6 IVF for $20,000.00! If you don't take home a live baby after 6 IVF then you get your money back! I,m 3 hour away from them so it's that great for me to drive that!

@caress1990: DH and I go to EVMS Jones Institute in Norfolk, VA and we love them. I can not say anything bad about the doctors, nurses, etc. I am awaiting my first IUI so I can't be much help about IUI or IVF there at this time. My primary doctor there is Dr. Bocca. I know you said that you think the Army program might be closed by then but have you looked at Walter Reed? Its cheaper than anywhere else (its 3500-5k and since you are young its prob closer to 3500) and has great success rate and no waiting list.

DH has to be active duty or on orders I believe... you should call them seriously, they were very nice on the phone.

Thanks guys i plan to discuss this with my RE on the 30th. I greatly appreciate your input. I can not pay 20,000 are there financial assistance programs or loans for ivf that any of you know about or does any of these facilities have a payment plan.

I know $20,000 is a lot, but if you make under (I think) $75,000 a year then you can get up to 25% off! I got 20% off so it was $16,000 !

Shady Grove is the best one near you in DC you will probably go to their Rockville, Md. office. Even though I am near Annapolis, I did most of my procedures at the Rockville office. A very good and knowledgeable group of doctors, nurses and techs. You will love them and they also have a Facebook page.

I learned that since I worked for the Navy ( I was in the navy before and now I am a civilian) my insurance was based out of DC which does not cover IVF but when we switched our insurance to being from my husbands job it was based out of Maryland which is a mandatory state, meaning they have to cover fertility stuff too. Are you working somewhere that you could have your insurance come from your job rather than his military benefits, or get supplemental insurance based out of Md. or Va? Just a thought. I know the insurance and cost can be such a headache. Good luck!!!!

Heard from my acupuncturist that Walter Reed's embryologist is a very good one.
