Insurance covered the 1st one (BFN) we will be paying for the 2nd one.
Regardless of the economy - IVF is expensive. We are fortunate that we have the savings to do this.
It is a tough one - there are companies out there that finance IVF (Sorry i don't know tooo much about them)

Although I haven't done IVF yet, I know there are RE's offices that will let you do payment plans, there is financing out there for fertility treatments, some save, some use credit cards, take out home equity loans or look for studies (http://www.clinicaltrials.gov./ct2/search) in their area that help bring the costs down.

A couple of women on here had great ideas to have a sort of fund raiser and see if family and friends could help them out with the costs.

I believe it's only 15 states in the USA that even cover fertility treatments, but the level of coverage varies as well.

some people use student loans because they are cheaper, and some people have the money saved... Wr went to mexico to do our first IVF and we paid so much less than we wolp pay here.. my parents live there so we didnt have to pay hotel and all.. thats why we are gonna be able to try again.. GOOD LUCK !!! i aslo heard some doctors have the paymetn plan to do it ...

We had some money saved and the rest was paid for through a loan. We did the shared risk thing where we paid for 2 IVF proceedures, but if those two did not work we would get the third one paid for. In the end, it only took one IVF to get our baby.

Our diagnostic tests (hsg, bloodwork, hysterscopy and laparoscopy) were covered by our insurance. We paid for the rest (meds, egg retrieval, egg transfer) out of pocket. It was about $10,000-$12,000 when all was said and done. It is a ton of money. But if we were just going into it now, with the way the economy is (we did our IVF back last July/August), I would still want to do it.

When we did IVF - we had no coverage. In Canada they don't cover anything (which is crap!) So ours was $11,000 & we re-financed our house to be able to do it. We also wanted to finish our back yard (we bought a new house that had no landscaping done) so we re-financed to be able to afford both! I NEVER regret this decision... without it... I wouldn't be pregnant now!

Our first IVF cycle we were in a clinical trial and the IVF cost about half price. Unfortunately I also received about half the service but I think it was just due to the RE I was with at the time.

Our next cycle that is coming up my DH and I are using all of DH's bonus and a bunch of our savings. It sucks big time but we are hopeful that it will pay off! Good luck!!!

I kind of lucked out in the fact that I am stationed in Japan and their medical costs are quite a bit less then in the US. The whole IVF procedure (which we just started) will cost us around $5,000. If we have a sucessful pregnancy I will probably plan a trip back out here for future treatments.
