Hi! I am about to be 34 and have been TTC for about 1 year and have not had any luck. I have a Dr's appointment scheduled for the end of this month to try to get to the bottom of things but from what I have learned from doing my own studies/research and tracking my CM and temps about TTC I have the following: I dont produce egg white CM, I may have low progesterone and I may have a blocked tube(but I am not for sure on that). I "think" I am ovulating, but sounds like that is all I have going for me...LOL! Anyways, I was just wondering what the cost for IVF is, I have a feeling I may have to go that route and my insurance does not cover it. Any information on this would be helpful. ThankYou!

All offices are different, and some are more upfront with the "hidden" costs. My office quotes $15,000 per cycle. But I've heard lower numbers. There is a program called attain, that essentially is a "buy one get others cheaper" loan program.

You may also be able to try IUI, and that is running us about 1500 a cycle. (with injectables)

WOW! IVF is pretty pricey! I guess I will be TTC naturally for the next few years then. Sorry, I am somwhat new to all of this but what is IUI? Does it work?

IUI is insemination. You will have to do a few tests first, to make sure you don't have any blocked tubes, or other problems. Your husband/significant other should be tested as well. From what I have read and heard it has good success rates, similar to that of conceiving naturally. (20-25%, if everything goes perfectly and is timed correctly) Our first one went perfectly, and it did not work, and we are beginning our second one now. It's alot more affordable than IVF, but the success rate is not nearly as high. My insurance does not cover it either (it did cover the tests in the beginning). You can also do it with just clomid instead of injectables, and that will reduce the cost significantly.

not everywhere is pricy. Mine cost 6,500 + meds which total will be around 9000. You just need to talk to your doctor and explain your situation and ask him or her for discounts ether if it's for IUI or IVF. That's what we did and I got $3000 discount.

IVF costs vary greatly from city to city and state to state. Ours was $8,000 (the insurance covered my meds) w/ICSI (which is where they manually fertilize the eggs) and assisted hatching. Otherwise it would've been $7000.

You need to wait for your results, and your partner/husband should be tested parallel to you so that you both save time.

I do need to see what the Dr says. I just wanted to see what the future holds in case I am unable to conceive naturally anytime soon. I may not be infertile, but I definitely was feeling alone in the TTC Group, It seemed like a lot of the people in that group have Conceived so easily! I think one girl was on there less than 1 month and got her BFP!
