I have read that the IUIs that actually work tend to lead to male babies. This is due to the fact that male sperm is faster and since the IUI is done as close to ovulation as possible the male sperms will beat the female sperms.

Lately I've noticed a lot of my DS friends who are pregnant through IUI are having boys. I had a miscarriage last month (after IUI) and testing on the fetal tissue showed the baby was a boy.

I just want to be a Mom to a healthy baby - boy or girl. But, I was just curious if anyone knows any stats on this or if anyone knows of people who had girls through IUI.

I had a IUI and I'm having a girl. I'm not sure about the stats on that.

I had an IUI (acutally, a dual IUI) I ended up loosing those babies, my triplets, to god. . My angels are boys.... interesting.

I read that it's a possibility to choose the gender if you'd like with IUI. Something when they prepare the sperm for insemination that if you spin the sperm in a centrifuge the "female sperm" can be separated. They claimed it's not an exact science but a strong probability of choosing the gender.

Although I saw a doctor on the Today show this morning that said he's been offering gender selection for several years with his fertility treatments and is getting ready to offer the choice of hair color, eye color, hair texture etc. Kind of weird, but I guess there's all kinds of technology out there.

But to answer your question, I think it's an option for gender selection.

I had an IUI and had twins - one girl and one boy. I had read about there being more boys also.

I have done home IUI's and both times I got pregnant from IUI I had boys (1 stillbirth and 1 healthy baby) I belong to another site and last year when I was pregnant I was the only one pregnant with a boy---all these women did IUI's and there was 6 or 7 women. Now all the newly pregnant women (again all IUI) are pregnant with boys except for one. I have read that IUI lends itself to more boys.

I have also heard that IUIs produce more boys, but haven't found any stats. I got pregnant with twin boys with IUI, and my best friend got pregnant with twin girls with IUI. So I think it all evens out in the end...

Not sure about IUI, but I was told this was true with IVF since the male embryos develop faster and therefore are more likely to be picked for selection. I hear if you did a 5 day transfer it was like 57% chance of a boy or something like that. I had a boy with IVF.

I had an IUI 9 years ago and gave birth to a girl. The two IVF's i have had have resulted in boys. I think it's probably still about 50/50. I could be wrong.
