OMG...i can't believe what you are going through! I can only imagine how devastating it was to come out of surgery to find out they removed both of your tubes!!! Was there a discussion about this possibility ahead of time? Did you sign something that gave him the right to do whatever was "necessary"? Was it necessary? I would be furious and so upset. It almost seems worth investigating- if it wasn't absolutely necessary if this is malpractice...
That being said, I think looking forward and investigating IVF is a good step. As long as they can get to your eggs and DH's sperm, it can DEFINITELY work! It is a fairly involved process, but in most cases, has a 50-60% success rate. Are you going to an RE? That would be the first step. Then they should walk you through the process, the cost, etc. I just did a fresh cycle back in May (but had to skip the transfer due to a polyp I had to have removed) and am in the midst of a frozen cycle, so please let me know if you have any specific questions I can help with!

I am so so sorry for what you are going through. I have also lost both tubes - tho through two ectopic pregnancies, and I'm currently in the beginning phases of IVF. Everything you are feeling is completely justified and I'm so glad you have DS to help you recover emotionally. I agree with golden - your first step is to interview REs (reproductive endocrinologists) and pick one! Many places offer different discounts depending on how you pay and will offer cash discounts too - I'm not sure if military benefits make it any different, but I'm sure you could call your benefits and get a list of pepple. The CDC keeps a website of IVF results that I used to help make my decision of who to choose - I mostly looked at success based on my age and also the number of live pregnancies they have annually. I chose a small clinic rather than the ginormo clinic here - success rates were the same and I didn't want to be jostled around. There is also an amazing group on DS - IVF mommies and daddies to be 2011 that has a ton of amazing women who have turned to IVF for fertility help - you will find out so much information there - hope to see you there and hope you are feeling better soon. I know the feeling of loss when you know with 100% certainty that you can't have a baby the "old fashioned way" but the good news is we still have options - maybe just not our first choice. I am so sorry. It is horrible what you went through. I would also be angry at the doctor as well. One thing you will find on this site is plenty of people who have been through IF who can offer you thoughtful advise. The first thing that we did when we were going through IF is to talk to our insurance to find out what they would and would not cover. We also talked to our work places about flex benefits to help pay for it as well. The next thing we did was contact a fertility clinic. The fertility doctors first disgussed all of our options and then also put us in touch with different local support groups. When we were sure that fertility treatments were what we wanted we then had to go through all of the testing and drugs and shots. Once you get into a fertility clinic they will help guide you.

I would like to express my greatest gratitude to you all! I really feel as if i am loosing it! Going through the ups and down is litterally driving me insane. Mentally i feel like im falling to pieces. I want to keep it together but it is so hard.
