DH and I are supposed to start IVF soon. From what my RE told me, ICSI seems to work for many couples. Good luck and lots of baby dust.

Thanks for the encouragement, we are doing ICSI/male factor as well. I wish that I could give more info but I'm just starting as well. It's so unfair. It's the men but we do all the work and go through all the pain. LOL I pray that all goes well and instead of dog we will have bundles of joy in our pics.

WHAT IS ICSI? I JUST HAD MY FIRST ROUND OF IVF BUT IT DID NOT WORK. WONDERING IF ICSI IS SOMETHING FOR ME THAT MAY HELP.

We are in the process of IVF with ER next week. We are having ICSI and assisted hatching too. Of course there is a $1,000.00 extra charge. Good luck to you.

I've done one IVF and am trying a second time with a different doctor. Our first doctor does ICSI routinely when there are male factors, just to give a slightly better shot of fertilization. My second doctor says that a lot of human eggs, even in normal people, aren't viable, and when they aren't viable, they often don't let the sperm in anyway. He is more conservative with ICSI, doing it only when there is some specific sperm problem that would make it harder to get the sperm in. Different philosophies. Who knows the real truth! Maybe somewhere in the middle.

We are dealing with male factor too. Very low count and poor motility. We were told by our RE, we could NEVER conceive naturally. We just finished our first round of IVF + ICSI. It ended in a BFN, but we will try again. Our dr wants to try different meds the next round.

We didn't have male factor, but I only had 2 eggs so they automatically did ICSI and it worked. Good luck!

We are also doing ICSI, I just had my ER today so I guess we'll soon find out if it worked for us. But I've heard it seems to work well. Good luck!!

I too would love to hear of some success stories involving male factor and ICSI. My husband and I are at the beginning of our first IVF (still on BCPs) with ICSI, and the poor semen analyses have been such a blow to his morale and ego we need some good news.

We are doing ICSI for male factor reasons. Our egg retrieval is tomorrow! I have a good friend who got just had twins this week after doing IVF/ICSI for male factor over the summer. So it can work!

We will be doing our 1st IVF in April and using ICSI because we are dealing with male factory. Hopefully we'll have good news to report. Best wishes to everyone!

My DH and I are also dealing with male factor, with a sperm count of Zero,, and no blockage. So in a few weeks they will do an extraction to look for some sperm. We're in agony until then. We've looked into sperm donors as a backup. I will keep you posted on our progress.
