Excuse yourself and leave. After a failed IUI I had a baby shower and I was late because I was crying the whole way there. I regret going and looking back I know I shouldn't have. Sometimes you need to protect yourself.

Could you have found out in any worse way than AT a baby shower?
You are brave to even attend a baby shower, kudos to you for keeping it together.
Sorry that things seem so rough right now, don't forget tomorrow is another day. We know all to well that we have some good days and some bad. Just take solace in knowing that you have good days to look forward to. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm so sorry. A baby shower AND a pregnancy announcement is a double whammy :( I honestly don't know how you are keeping it together...just shows how strong you are. IF is incredibly cruel.

I would have left but i carpooled with my who told me she was preggo. Just went in the bathroom to cry for a few. My face hurt hurt from all the fake smiling and my jaw from being clenched. There were about 7 women very pregnant there, none with their first.

And to top the day off nicely, I just got home from urgent care. No, not from hyperventilating although it could have been. I got stung by a bee on Thursday walking home from work. It has slowly gotten more red, hot and painful. I have been icing it but getting more concerned. I called my sister, a nurse, and she said to go to UC In case it was infected or the stinger was still there. I was sooooo scared they would lance it. He said it is just the allergic reaction, gave me tenuous, steroid and told to elevate with Benadryl. Oh, and bed rest. I just laughed since I'm a mother f***ing pro at that game.

So, so sorry. I don't go to showers. Too much to deal with. Sorry about the bee sting. I'm allergic to stings. I swell up and it gets red and hard. Benadryl really does help.

Ouch, that sucks! Do something to make yourself feel better we get it, I totally understand. Big hugs!

I agree with Claire pamper yourself all weekend. You deserve it.

I feel so sad just reading this, it hurts right in your heart when something like that happens, I totally understand, I went home to visit family in England a few months ago and so many of my freinds had babies, so I made sure I visited a freind who I knew had no babies for a break and I took a bottle of wine with me...... she declined!! Yup you guessed it, so we spent all evening discussing babies and pregnancy.....yay! :-$

I tend to just tell people whats going on for me and although they still manage to say some heart breaking things, most of them will try their hardest to be sensitive! But I am a heart on my sleeve kinda girl. In this situation theres nothing to do but go to the bathroom and cry it out!!

Double whammy. Sucks so bad. Like the other have said, you are brave for going, I have vowed that I will not attend another baby shower unless it's my own. Hang in there!

I'm so sorry... I wish I could give you a hug and tell you it will all be o.k. Can you possibly leave? perhaps sms your hubby/partner and ask them to call you with an emergency?

Isn't is just f***ing cute how life likes to throw us those curve balls and then kick us while we're down?!?!? I am so sorry you had to deal with so much this weekend. Its not fair and I hope you take some time to pamper yourself this week and don't feel obligated to attend any more baby showers! I read someone's post on here last week that said our friends WANT us at the baby showers but they don't NEED us to be there. Its more important for you to take care of yourself.
