How do you manage the balance of Hope verses getting too hopefull?? I dont want to count my chickens so to speak, but I have heard the most important thing is to be positive????

Our first cycle, we bought a baby naming book. The second cycle, I picked out (bookmarked) baby bedding 'just in case' for a boy or girl. I also listened to fertility affirmation cd's which helped. They were all 'your body will accept a baby, your womb is fertile.'
I found it gave me hope and relaxation. In the end, we didn't go with one of the early names and we picked different bedding. :-)
But it helped give me hope even though it cost next to nothing. Guiliana Rancic bought a baby naming book with one of her cycles, which gave me the idea.

Our first cycle, we were naively hopeful; our other two cycles one we weren't very hopeful (BFN) and the other I was super positive (BFP but later MC) I agree with endo, find something that allows you to be positive. I do believe its half the battle!

I have a little pair of leather shoes I want to buy but i dont wanna ginx it or have to look at them when it doesnt work! I will just hope they are still there when its time to buy them. :-)
I have already thought of names hehe

That's a good question! One I've struggled with in the past. I'm usually a pessimistic type of person and struggle to be more optimistic. I tried my hardest with FET#1 to think positively, but it was so hard b/c I "just knew" that it didn't work a week into my 2WW. I do LOVE the suggestions above about buying a baby book and listening to fertility affirmation CD's. I think I'm going to have to start this with my next FET (scheduled for around 8/23). Good luck!

I'm still trying to balance the two, I have allowed myself to go up and down with it because I find that fighting the hopelessness sometimes makes it worse. I just allow myself to feel sad, then hope comes hopping along again.

I just cant allow myself to hope too much.... I think i have enough hope underneath but I am just so scared to believe and then be disappointed!

My therapist encouraged me to accept the hope during my cycles. He reminded me that I was strong enough to handle the news if it was not a BFP, and asked me why I would want to prolong the negative energy associated with a BFN. It was a good point, I was acting as though it was negative before it even started.

Something to think about...why allow the negative energy creep in early?
