We inseminate at home but we have never used an insemination kit. I heard that a cervical cap does not increase the chances of becoming pregnant. We get the supplies from my OB. I have gotten pregnant twice pretty quickly. Good Luck

I pasted the site as it appears in my address drop down. If you still can't access it, I did a google search for "home insemination for infertility". One was the "turkey baster method". I didn't know it really existed until I found the site! I watched a news cast on single women wanting to get pregnant and it gave me the idea of trying to google home insemination kits.

By the way, I wanted to thank you for the added site info you found jeanniew! I'm anxious to see what that has to offer also! It's kind of nice to know that it's available for the people that can't cover the cost of IVF due to ins. or the state they reside in.

For what it's worth, I've heard they are risky and not highly successful.
Not being trained in the process, attempting to dilate the cervix and pass a catheter through into your uterus without u/s guidance can be risky for: cervical damage, uterine perferoration and infection (if you aren't trained in sterile technique). I don't think it's worth risking the health of your reproductive tract... Also, you don't wash the sperm like in the lab, so you are increasing your chances of placing a poor sperm quality closer to your egg, where your body's mucus and nature would have ensured it not to get past...
Plus how many posts have you read on here that said "We got our BFP w/ at home insemination"?
Obviously, I'm very skeptical about them... but that's just one opinion!

MsH: I was wondering about the risks too. You brought up some good points. I haven't been brave enough to try anything because of that. I was just curious to see if people have tried them and had any success. Thanks for your input though, it's definately what I was looking for. :)

ive tried the "turkey baster" method many times with no success....of course that's just me, you may want to try it.

I think that I'm going to talk with my OBGYN about the home insemination process. I like the fact that kyspeir got pregnant using this method, and I truly believe that if it worked for a lot of the single women that were tired of waiting for Mr. Right (as seen on the news in the morning), that it may work for me. It's a bit cheeper. Still have to get my wits about me though.
