Hi. I also had high fsh levels. I was put on lupron during my IVF cycle to bring my levels down. It did work and we did get pregnant but we miscarried weeks later. I don't think my fsh levels were the reason we miscarried. There were problems with both of us. We did get pregnant again four months later and I was on lupron again to bring my levels down and we had a healthy baby boy in July of 2010. Good luck with everything :)

As far as I know, and I could be wrong, my understanding of the FSH level was how well your ovaries are working. This is the hormone that is high if you don't have a high egg reserve, and the lower it is, the better your ovaries are working. With IVF your FSH level shouldn't matter as much, since your ovaries are good for maturing eggs and giving progesterone, and they're taking the eggs manually, and taking progesterone manually. AMH is a more accurate way to test your egg reserve. I have a low reserve and premature ovarian failure. I have not gotten a BFP with my fresh IVF but I am gearing to do an FET and transferring 3 embryos. Good luck!

FSH is the amount of stimulation your ovaries need so the higher the number the more your ovaries are diminishing in their effectiveness. Still it doesn't talk about quality of your eggs but as nelly mentioned the number of eggs it will produce under a stim protocol. What was your level?

I just had my AMH and FSh tested, my RE likes to see FSH no higher than an 8 and mine was 8.8 he said that tells him I have a slight egg quality issue, coupled with my very low AMH .92 which means I have diminishing reserve IVF is my best bet. Hope that helps.

Aristen I want your numbers!!!! My last bloodwork was .7 and I think almost 10 for the FSH (which has always been around 7). I have also found that it varies throughout the year (both the AMH and the FSH) I dunno why.

Hi - I have an AMH of 0.07 and an FSH of 9 at 29 (BOO). I didn't make very many follies with IVF but got pregnant spontaneously the month before my donor was set to cycle... it only takes one eggo. :) FSH can vary a lot though - more than AMH I think. I had my FSH tested 3 times in 3 months and it was from 3 to 9 depending. The 3 though was right after I finished a birth control pack which I think is why it was lower. My doctor found AMH more helpful. HTH

My last fsh test (in Nov) came back at 7. My last amh result (measured a few months earlier) was .6. My dr thought this indicated a low ovarian reserve but didn't necessarily indicate low egg quality. The good news is that my first IVF cycle (June/July) granted better results than anyone expected. They got 12 eggs, 11 fertilized, and we ended up with 6 Grade A embryos. I am currently 15w3d pregnant with twins. My dr was pleasantly surprised, as she hadn't expected me to do that well. Those test levels really can't tell you everything about how you'll do with IVF. I think I'm proof. There is always hope.
