I did it..and it did not hurt!! I was so releived. After DH put it in..I was asking him if it was in yet. So..I did not feel it go in at all. BUT..now it hurts an hour later. Is it sapposed to hurt? I feel like a stingy feeling. Is it the drug? I did not use ice. I did usr heat afterward though..and it did bleed for a few minutes. I am just glad we did it and its done and it will be all smooth sailing from here on out...now if I could just get a BFP!!

My DH and I had a little "ritual" we went through, and I never had any problems. I would lay on my tummy and he would put ice on the injection site until it was so cold it almost burned - did the shot very slowly - rubbed (hard) the injection site for 2-3 minutes until the little knot was gone - then put hot heat on it for a while. It worked GREAT! The ice keeps the shot from hurting so bad, then the rubbing dispersed the oil, and the heat thins the oil and keeps the circulation up and disperses the oil even further. Try this technique - you'll be happy with it. It takes time, but it's well worth it.

I did them like you..except no ice. I like laying on the bed because you are completely relaxed and you cant jump. I hope they all go as smoothly!

Recently I ran out of progesterone oil and we got another bottle from a nearby pharmacy this time, rather than through the mail. The next few nights, following this, my progesterone shots hurt a lot. It felt like dh was hitting a nerve or pushing the needle too far in or something. Then I realized that we'd been using the needles that came from the new pharmacy, and that the very tip of these needles was ever-so-slightly slightly thicker and longer. And that made a huge difference in pain levels. I switched back to the old needles and it was a lot better again. From one IVF cycle to the next, check to see if the brand of needles you've been using has changed ... or ask your RE for some needles and try a different brand.

Turns out I was allergic to the sesame oil that is used as a delivery tool - and I am not allergic to ANYTHING. They changed my script to olive oil and everything was much better. I still use my "boo boo kitty" ice pad but - whew!!

My RE gives the option of progesterone suppositories. Maybe you can ask for those?
