Hello ladies!

I am just seeking any suggestions, advice, your experiences that you may have about the foster to adopt program? We have decided to start the process and even though still hoping for a miracle, but VERY little chance at my age. We would appreciate any suggestions or expertise that anyone can offer? Our reluctance is of course, working through the non-bio issue but also getting so attached to a child and then lose him/her. We love children and we just want to be as prepared as possible. Thank you in advance ladies for your assistance!

Girl at Heart would be a great resource for you. She is a wonderful person and an amazing women. Her and her DH are a pre-adoptive foster home and from reading her journal entries, I know I would never be strong enough to be a foster mom. You are an amazing woman just thinking about it all.

I don't have any experience, but I've been thinking about foster to adopt too. From what I read it can be really hard because you see children come and go. And when they go, it's back to a bad home. What I love about fostering is the fact that most kids go into a foster system do not have a pleasant experience, so at least you know they have a good part of their life with you. I think when you go into fostering with the hopes of adopting, they try and place children who most likely will be up for adoption with you since they know it will be a good way to connect and get the child in their forever home.

There's a group on here for women considering adoption either after or in conjunction with dealing with infertility - I highly recommend them. It's called "adoption and infertility."

Thanks for the shoutout LMWT. As she mentioned we are foster to adopt. We've been foster parents for almost two years.

Please feel free to ask questions and perhaps I can answer them.

We love fostering! Sounds cheesy to say it this way, but it is rewarding.

Hi,

DH and I have been foster parents for 3 years. We are currently in the adoption process with our 2 and a half year old. We are switching to adopt only. Our hearts can't take the emotional roller coaster ride anymore.

We have had 5 amazing kids, 3 long term. I wouldn't trade my / our experience for the world. It's really made me learn a lot about myself. But I think we are finishing the adoption on this child and calling it quits to move to "adopt only"...please feel free to message me / ask more questions...we are open about the process, what it's REALLY like etc...
