I had my laproscopic surgery on Friday and was hoping that they would just remove the endometriosis (if they found any - I suspected they would) and I would be able to go ahead (like many I have heard about) and conceive normally.
To my utter dismay, the surgeon came out and said I had damage to my left fallopian tube and the dye (they put blue dye through my tubes) did not spill out in this side. They couldn't remove all the endometriosis either. My left ovary is also involved and he recommends my best chance of getting pregnant now is IVF.
This is a very expensive procedure in NZ and the waiting list is over 2 years. I have to wait 2 weeks to see my fertility specialist and I just can't face going back to work or even getting out of bed.
I work as a preschool teacher and even the thought of seeing children makes me feel so sad.
My partner already has a daughter from a previous relationship and so although I know he is trying to be supportive, it can't possibly affect him the way it does me. In some ways, he has filled that void by already having a child.
I feel completely lost and not sure how I am going to get through this. I would love to hear from anyone who has a similar story or who may have some coping strategies for all of this.

Whereabouts are you in NZ? I am here too. I have had the exact same scenario as you, except my partner has no children. I was told one tube was blocked so planned a laparoscopy to explore but als I made the surgeon agree to tie the blocked tube, to set me up to concieve as I had a hydro swelling in the tube which is thought to prevent conception.
Anyway after the surgery I was told that both my tubes were in a bad way with hyrdos and scar tissue and that they had made the decision to tie both tubes to prevent ectopis and set me up for better chances at sucess in IVF.
I knw yout pain, you are not alone. Dnt be disheartened though, the waiting list passes in noo time!! I am starting stims for IVF today and withing 3-4 weeks wil know the outcome!!!
