It has been a while since I have posted. A brief background on me, my husband and I have been married 4.5 years and together 9 years. We have not been preventing getting pregnant for about 8.5 years and trying prob for about 1-2 years. We did see a RE and found that I have low AMH and that is all and nothing wrong with him. We have checked out IUI and IVF, my husband feels since I only have low AMH and they couldn't find really anything else wrong the IUI and IVF may not work anyways because we don't have a true diagnosis of why I can't get pregnant. My OB feels its not a huge deal and we are just missing the right time.
With the cost of all of that, I finally got to a point where I feel looking at adoption is okay and just wanting to be a mother. My husband has finally agreed to check it out so we signed up to go to a meeting in May. We got some pre-information that has a cost breakdown with it. It really was heartbreaking, I finally felt I was on a path to becoming a mother and adoption would be the better option and that cost is just as much.
I feel very discouraged at this point in where to go next, the cost for any option is huge and the fear of going in debt since we are finally getting more financially out of debt is as scary as the fear of not being a mother at all. We do still plan to go to the meeting in May and that way, in my mind at least we have all the information and can make a plan from there. I know for being this long into our journey and not looking into these options before I feel way behind the game but until I turned 30 last year I don't feel I truly felt the push or strong desire of wanting to be a mother. I knew if it happened it would be great but now I am truly scared it won't and not knowing how to move forward.
I also see my OB in May and will discuss with her maybe the idea of trying clomid or another medication as well as DHEA as I read that sometimes can help with low ovarian reserve. Anything that I can try to increase my odds I am willing to give it a shot at this point. At this point I am just trying to gain all the information I can and trying to stay positive in the next few months as I figure out what path to take and what my future holds as far as being a mother. I am very happy that my husband and been super supportive of me during this time even though he is not as passionate about being a father as I have recently become of being a mother. The next few month will definitely be hard and challenging.
I heard a great joke about adoption the other day - Some people are afraid that they might not love an adopted child as much as a biological child, but I love my adopted cat just as much as the cat I gave birth to.
I had a friend that did 2 rounds and got pregnant so thing that is what I would want to try first. My husband isn't 100% sold it will work and is not ready to pay that. This was all right after we did the testing which was 2 years ago.
Since then we have agreed to keep trying like we are until my yearly in May. I have a few things I want to ask her and we will have had our adoption meeting by then as well. When we first started we both were kind of just in the mind if it was meant to happen it would, its really only been in the last 9 months that I really have just realized I want to be a mom any way I can. I expressed this too him recently so I think that will kind of change or going forward.
The plan kind of is too talk to my doctor about a few things, go to the adoption meeting then I feel we will have all the information we need and can kind of regroup this summer and I am hoping he would be willing to try a round or 2 of IUI, I just have this gut feeling that it would work for us too and would be the cheapest option available. I have had heard a few successes with it early on and makes me optimistic to try it.
