Hi ladies,
I just completed my first IVF/ICSI cycle and it was BFN. We found out yesterday for sure, but I kind of knew it was coming - I tested on HPT from 6dp5dt and all of them were negative. Each negative test I saw made me feel a little more depressed - I moved my beta from today to yesterday to confirm what I already knew. I thought I had already grieved and apparently I had not. It hit me like a ton of bricks. All I can do is cry. I feel this giant void in my body and in my heart and I don't know if I can do this again - my husband wants to go back to a FET almost right away...he thinks it is hanging over our heads (which I do agree to a point). Just making myself coffee (which I haven't been able to have) made me cry. And when I went to take my progesterone before bed and realized it was no longer needed...more tears.
Any special ways of coping with this or do I just have to cry for who knows how long before I feel somewhat normal again?

I'm so sorry for your BFN. I had my first BFN in October using IVF/ICSI. What you are feeling is completely normal. Everyone copes differently. I still cry sometimes when I think about it and there are times when I wonder if I will feel normal again. We couldn't do an FET because we only got 2 embroyos, so we are waiting a few months to start our next IVF. Let yourself cry and understand that you are normal. You are grieving for your loss. You will know when you are ready to move on to your next step. Big hugs to you.

Thank you bc - this is even more difficult than I had anticipated. I feel almost like someone died....so strange. I can't imagine not having the frozen embies...I've made it very clear that I will never do another fresh...so pat yourself on the back...you are stronger than I am! That was the most awful month of my life and with no pay off...ugh!! I wish you the best with your next cycle and will keep you in my prayers!

My heart breaks for you. I had 3 failed ivf cycles before I finally got pregnant. Each failure was impossible to deal with. I cried and cried. What you are feeling is completely normal. There is no right or wrong way to deal with it. Grieve your loss. In time, things will get easier. I pray that you'll get your bfp soon!

Thank you Kate - I am not sure I'm really even ready to work through it..much less contemplate the next cycle...I guess talking to my RE will help. I'm already feeling stressed regarding a FET...I don't think I can handle another failure...espcially with the odds we had for the fresh...its just, well...unfair. Thank you for your support - my husband is amazingly supportive and has been my rock through all of this but he just doesn't feel it the same as me...he didn't put his body through this so its just different

I feel your pain hun. I'm sorry for your loss. I too have failed ivf, 3 times ;( It's very painful and puts a strain on every aspect of your life. I grieve for days it seems, then I search on the internet for ways to achieve my bfp. I know it's kinda of obsessive, but we have 3 more chances to get this right before we move on to adoption. I feel it's soothing in a way to have a plan for the next step. Have you looked into all your options? ***Hugs***

Thanks Nikki, it just sucks. Im feeling a little better (mentally) today but I'm still cramping SO bad...just an unfriendly reminder of not being prego *sigh* we are going to attempt a FET in Feb I think....haven't talked to RE yet, but have 4 frozen embryos...but no idea of their quality...they are day 6 blasts..I hope you are doing well...I wish the best of luck to you !

Take your time and move onto the next step when you are ready. It's so scary but it's one step closer. Husbands are great but they don't and can't understand exactly how we feel. I ended talking to a therapist and it was the best thing. Someone that's neutral and will listen. I'm praying for you and everyone else.

I am so sorry for your BFN. My first round of IVF was a BFN as well and even though AF was showing her early signs I still cried and cried when I got that official negative beta. What helped me was to go directly into the FET. I didn't take any time off, just went directly into it. I don't remember all the specifics but I know that the FET was a million times easier than the fresh cycle. My RE only had me doing estrace which is just an oral med and then later in the cycle prometrium suppositories. So, I didn't have any injections or anything. It was even easier than an IUI! We only had 3 frozen embies and they were all frozen together so we only had one shot at the FET. That's all it took! All 3 embies survived the thaw and I got pregnant with twins. They are now 10 months old! So, my advice would be to give yourself a few days to grieve because you deserve that after the emotional and physical stress of IVF, but then I'd jump right back in and give those frozen embies a chance!! :) Good luck!!

Thank you MomHopes - your story is inspiring and I pray I have a similar story to tell soon. The biggest reason I haven't set another transfer date (Feb is likely) is because I missed so much work on this IVF cycle due to side effects that I can't ask for more time off (I mean, technically I can...but I don't want to). I know the FET doesn't require as much or cause all the problems like a fresh cycle does/can...but if my period starts before or after it should all my planning goes down the drain (this is what happened with the fresh cycle). I'm a nurse on a very busy floor and work 12 hour shifts...its so demanding...I have to be 110% and that is impossible if I'm trying to work right after a transfer (the next day). We will see how it plays out I suppose. When did you start the estrogen pill? Is it day one of your period?
