After my first IVF failed, the doctor told me it was an egg quality issue and that my eggs were fair, which was unusual because of my age. I am 31. He stated donor eggs briefly, but gave me some tips on how to improve my egg quality, like certain vitamins (CoQ10 and fish oil). Another doctor told me that egg quality changes per cycle as well. Another doctor told me that it could be the combination of my DH and I. Needless to say, I started the CoQ10, Fish oil, and prenatal to prepare for my next cycle and my DH took CoQ10, Fish Oil, and Conception x and it worked my second cycle, even though my egg quality was still not perfect, but it did improve.

Did your doctor talk to you about any other options in improving egg quality?

My Dr. is of the mind that none of the supplements have enough data to show that they are actually helpful. But, I did take CoQ10 this last time, and Metformin, and my egg quality seemed worse this time than the first time. We are not jumping straight to donor eggs just yet, since we do have one frozen, and we would like to try another retrieval with my eggs first. I am just trying to prepare myself for the worst I guess.

Hi hun, I just had twin boys born in December from a DE cycle. I turned 32 just weeks after their birth.

My first IVF ended in a MC, at the time my RE said, it could be your eggs. I was 29 (turned 30 just weeks after my mc)!!! not news you expect at 29!!!

My second IVF was at a different clinic and I had surgery before and spent the 3 months before and the 3 months after surgery "improving" my eggs before starting IVF again. I had 22 follies, they only retrieved 13 eggs, only 8ish were mature, 4 fertilized, all stalled at 4ish cells... It was time to face the music... my eggs sucked.

It took my 6 months to say, lets do this donor thing. It was a really hard decision, but looking at my boys every day made me realize that the first cell does not matter!

There is also a genetic science that studies how you being the biological mother, actually do not give the genetics, but you actually "pick" the genetics that will be used. Also your body, your blood, give the baby life. Once I wrapped my head around that, it made my decision much easier.

We would get 20 some odd eggs and they would dwindle down to 1 or 2 that fertilized. We are moving onto donor egg this summer. We are out of insurance coverage and waiting to hear news from the cade foundation (they specialize in awarding grants for people struggling with infertility to seek treatment). We find out Monday and I can't wait to get started! After I had the m/c I decided that after everything we have been through I am ready to try the next step to get pregnant. We tried for almost a full year since my m/c and nothing has happened. We are going through with the DE program whether we get the grant or not, but obviously the grant would take a huge load off our shoulders. Sooo we could potentially be picking a donor next week. I still get upset about the fact that I am losing my DNA, but as LMWT said, studies show that you as the carrier have an influence on what genes are expressed! I know that as soon as I see a heartbeat that baby will be 100% mine. I also want my husband to have the chance to pass his genes on. I still get a chance to be pregnant and he gets to pass his genes on.

Infertilityinfo.com is a natural site that helps woman struggling. They have a kit that helps with egg qauality called "ovawise". It included CoQ10, royal jelly, maca, and antioxidants. I attempted that for three months and we haven't got pregnant on our own. Maybe if we did IVF it would have worked, but we are not millionares and can't keep trying with my crap eggs. Hi, ladies! Have already shared my story briefly on threads but definitely relate to this one.
I was 41 yo when we faced trouble conceiving first. They diagnosed me on diminished ovarian reserve and poor egg quality. Dh has a kid from his previous marriage but I've never had children. So was desperate for a baby. We passed 1 ICSI cycle which brought no success. Then moved abroad for ivf with donor egg. We booked 5 fresh shot guaranteed program, meds and services included. But, thanks to God, my second transfered worked and my little one is now with us. The road travelled sucks butt, but once that little one is kicking away your heart just melts and every little shitty day of ivf and heart breaks just vanishes. This is just as it feels on the other side.

This is so great such thread exists! I really needed to hear de success stories. I'm more and more convinced I should go for this option. I've just started my research. So I didn't decide yet where we'll have ivf. I still need to find lots of info before we start this journey. But I'm so happy I came on this forum. All of you girls helped a lot!
