I waited until I was halfway through the stims to tell my work, b/c I didn't want to tell them and my cycle be cancelled. I just told them that we had been ttc for 3 years, and we were going to a specialist for help. I didn't really elaborate. I went about every 3 days from day 4 of stims up until transfer.....now I am in my 2ww. Good luck!

b/c you will be out partial days SO much it is best to tell your employer what is going on they will probably be more understanding. And may even want you to fill in FMLA leave paperwork or something.. My boss has been very understanding. For example my last cycle. I missed 3 1/2 days before we even started for saline sonogram testing and other misc. appointments. Once we started I scheduled my appointments for early morning as much as possible and just came into work about an hour late or so. The first week was 2 appointments and then after that it was just about every other day and then 3 days before ER i went there everyday. But each time it was just b/w and an U/S then off to work so fairly quick appointments. Then Off the FULL day for ER. I went back the next day. Then Off 3 days for ET. My doctor requires 2 days of bedrest. Then you will go in for b/w to test for pregnancy. And if positive you will go in again 2 days later. Then possibly another b/w or u/s. In my case i did three BETAS then U/S. Then i m/c and had to take off ofr a D&C. But through all of this my boss was very understanding. This time my ET will be on a friday so no extra time off needed for bedrest. and with an FET you only have 2 doctors appointments so not so bad this time. I hope all works out for you.

I didn't tell. The Dr. office was close to work. I took the earlies appt and vacation days for ER and ET, my Dr only required bedrest for the rest of the day for ET. I would have not told anyway, though. I didn't feel like it was their business and everyone is not always happy for you, they start think she's going to be off work, etc. I didn't want any negative vibes.

My boss was informed from the very beginning. My DH and I both work for the same company and it is a very small company. He was understanding for the most part,, I just tried to make my appointments as early as possible and would get up extremely early to make them so I could get back to work as soon as I could. It was an hour and a half drive to my REs office!

I told my boss. She actually has turned into a support for my journey. I am in my second IVF round and on stims. I have had 3 US and am going for fouth tomorrow morning. I am hoping for a ER on Sat so I won't miss work but I may have it on Monday. I already told my boss so that if I need the day, she is on notice. Also, I will take a day for the transfer and told her it will be later next week. If you already have a good boss, I recommend telling her. I find it a comfort knowing someone in my office knows about it.

I don't know how sympathetic or understanding your boss is going to be. Do you have any vacation days? I'n my case during the stims(9-10 days) I went to RE office 2-3x. I would schedule in the morning before I went to work. After the ET I did take a week of and that was my choice (RE recom at least 3 days). If you feel comfortable to share with you boss then I think is a good idea to tell him/her your situation.

Well I don't have to tell my boss anything, not for at least 4 months now! I got a BFP yesterday! I can't believe this is happening! Still in shock. I guess I should cancel my appointments with the fertility specialist. God has his own way of working things out doesn't He?

My office has apts starting at 6:30 am, so i go in before work. I did not tell my boss becasue they are not very open to missing work and I was afraid they would consider this "elective" surgery.

I'm married to my boss, so i went with the option of letting him know!

Sorry to joke about it, but it's true.

And my point is it's up to you and dependant upon your office politics and your personal position.

It's really up to you, but from my experience here's what the IVF process (and visits) looked like....
-IVF class (1 day)
to explain the process of IVF, shots, preliminary bloodwork, tests)
-Birth control pills/lupron (no dr. visits)
-Ovary Stimulation (every other day for about 2 weeks)
The dr. visits were quick (ovary check and blood work) and did not take long. In fact, I tried to make my appts. for the first thing in the a.m.
-egg retrieval (1 day off)
-egg transfer (1 day off)
Then I did the 2 week wait with no dr. visits. So, a total of about
10 days, maximum, 15 days.

I chose to tell my boss. Although I don;t think she loved that I wasn't there for early meetings, I think it was much better to let her know had a valid reason for not being there.

I've been thru 6 cycles so I can tell you that you most miss that much...it's the egg retrieval and 3 days of bed rest-so 4 max and sometimes they fall on the weekend.
