I am a new member who decided to join after my breakdown yesterday. I just completed my first IVF cycle. We got 22 eggs and out of all of them only 1 made it to a blastocyst. We couldn't do a fresh transfer because my progesterone levels were too elevated and our "window for implantation" would have closed before the eggs were ready. So we had to wait a whole cycle to do a frozen transfer. I took daily progesterone injections (which were awful at times) and just got our negative news yesterday. I am so discouraged. I feel so sad, angry, and jealous of other pregnant women. We have male factor infertility and I feel so bad for my husband, because of course he puts all the blame on himself. I had a dream the other night that we broke up and I was dating someone else and thought "well maybe now I can get pregnant naturally". It's such a terrible thing to think, but sometimes I can't help but think that. It is embarrassing to even admit that I think it sometimes. I love my husband to death and would NEVER change what I have with him. I would literally be willing to have a life with no children if that is what it came down to. This is all just so hard. I feel like everyone around me is getting pregnant at the drop of a hat. I feel so alone although I know I am not and that others are out there. Thanks for listening to me vent. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone in the world.
I hope your follow up appointment gets you some answers, and please don't give up. Sometimes the first cycle is a learning curve - many hear have gotten their BFP on future cycles!

Don't give up! Hopefully the RE can give you some answers on why only 1 made it to a blastocyst. Hopefully they can change things up so you have better results next cycle (if you go that route).
I feel like after doing this for almost 2 years with 3 different RE's I can offer some advice if you plan to do this again. To piggy back on what Jat said, DH and you should talk to my RE about why only 1 egg made it. 1 out of 22 isn't a strong number, not for all that effort, aggravation, and pain. Did they do ICSI on all the eggs? How many fertilized but did not make it? Were many of the eggs not mature? The solution could be that your drug treatment needs to be changed up to get less better quality eggs. How are the SART IVF percentages for your clinic?
Is your husband's issue mobility, how it is shaped, or something else? Usually a male issue prevents the sperm getting to or into the egg. The embryos not fertilizing is the sperm's issue, but the embryos not making it is typically the eggs issue (which is why you need to know how many fertilized). The 1 surviving embryo makes me consider looking at your egg quality or how the eggs were produced (unless they didn't do ICSI, which given your husband's issue they should have). I know lots of women take supplements to improve their quality, maybe that can help.

They did do ICSI, and said they had a very difficult time finding healthy sperm. They said it was almost as if the sperm were dying before their eyes. Out of 22 eggs, 19 were mature, 9 fertilized, 8 survived, then 5. We were thinking we would freeze at least 2-4. The last day they said only one survived to a five day. We were devastated, but felt lucky we had any survive at all. The clinic's IVF percentage is 50% first try and their FET percent so far for the year is 65% pregnancy rates. We keep discovering that we are in the small percentage areas that no one wants to be in. What does RE stand for? I'm assuming something to do with your fertility doc. I do like mine and shadygrove is an institute of excellence, which they get based on their positive pregnancy/delivery rates. I don't think I am quite ready to switch doctors until I hear what he has to say at our follow up. Thank you so much for your support and concern.
