I'm sorry Roxy, I saw your post on the miscarriage board but since I had a D&C I didn't feel I should/could offer much of an answer. After the D&C I had bleeding discharge for a couple days, then it quit for a couple days and started back up for a couple days, then it was over. I didn't realize it was going to be a stop and go thing, but I realize your situation is different, so I hope someone else can have a better answer for you.

I didn't do meds and my baby died at 6 weeks, but mine was a lot of blood and very small clots (pea sized). I bleed light the first day and like a regular period the second day (I think). Then on either the second or third day (I think on the second) towards the after noon (530-730) I bled very heavy (a full night pad in about an hour). After that it was med to heavy bleeding for a couple more days. Then it suddenly stopped and I had a lot of cramping. Later passed a clot in a gush of blood and that was that. I think your last mc (the one that lasted months) was an outlier. I know Original took meds for hers (she didn't do a D&C) like Poly or Andi, and I think hers lasted at most a week. Wait and see if it starts up again; if it doesn't call your RE and ask what's next.

Thanks. At least it tells me that the idea that I should be bleeding heavy right away might be wrong.
I figure I'll try calling my RE tomorrow but I'm probably worried for nothing.

Oh Roxy! I'm sorry to hear this. I didn't know as I haven't checked in in a while. My m/c took about 10 days without meds. I was about 6.5 weeks. I bled a little heavier than a period for a few days, stopped for a couple, then passed a larger "clot" and bleed lightly for a few more days. Mild cramping and back pain. Prayers your way.

It could start up again but since you took the pill, I would think you might be done. It just expells everything faster. My experience was as follows: I took the pills and starting passing huge clots within 30 minutes (I mean, handful size if we are doing TMI) when using the restroom. Filling a pad every 1-3 hrs. I wish I had known, I would have recommended taking the pill earlier in the day. :( I took mine at 2pm and still wasn't comfortable going to sleep in bed until about 2am because I wasn't comfortable laying down. It finally slowed down after that 10-12 hrs and I was able to go to bed. I bled for a few days like a heavy period and then about another week of just small, amount of discharge.

I must say with my first miscarriage I had a D&C and my second, while natural was early so no more than a very painful heavy period but I remember that I would also 'gush' when I was on the toilet...

Have they taken your levels? I know that your levels and how quickly they fall can help predict how long it will take

I was 12 weeks when I miscarried and my bleeding last 4 days and was very large blood clots. It was a natural miscarriage no meds or d&c, the er doctor thought it would be better for my body this way.

Well just talked to my nurse and she's making me take an othe round of meds. I haven't spotted in almost 24 hours and never really stained one pad.
It looks like a repeat of last summer. I really hope I can avoid surgery.

I'm SOOO sorry... I was rooting for you, and I'm so saddened to see this! My MC had to be "helped" with a D&C two weeks after confirmation that the baby had died... but I have friends who have been through both: one friend had hers last 6 weeks and another had it over with within hours... so I guess both are completely normal.

The 2nd dose was so bad I thought I would pass out but I think it did the trick. I passed huge clots every 15 minutes for a couple of hours and had heavy bleeding. I'm still bleeding a little and passed very small clots today but think it should be ok
My u/s is Friday and I think I should be good to avoid a D&C. My RE is really against it with my lining issues but they won't be able to convince me to take an other series of meds at this point.

Sounds like it worked. :-/ Sorry it was so terrible. Ake time for yourself and eat a cookie or two. (ok I may have gained a few lbs after my MC so don't follow my advise!)

If you soaked through a few pads in a few hours and now it's just residual, you probably are done... but the ultrasound to confirm is good, I'm glad they're doing that!

If you do need the D&C, don't let it throw you too much... in hindsight, it's really not that horrible... not compared to the emotional trauma you've already been through... and if it's done right shouldn't affect your lining problems... in fact, some doctors believe that the "injury" to the uterus of having this done actually works to improve the lining in defense.
