I'm struggling with the insurance not even covering the ultrasounds and blood work.... and since I have PCOS and there are some concerns about the sperm making it to the eggs...my doctor wants to go straight to IUI--which includes a min of 2 ultrasounds (day 3 of cycle and day of surge). This is just too hard sometimes on too many levels.
I know at this stage talking about injectable medications is probably a little scary, but they work wonders and have much fewer side effects than that nasty Clomid.
Good luck. Hoping whatever you try works this time.
Although I'm just on clomid, my RE wants to monitor for the IUI...so each attepted is costing us around $2,000. So, on day 3 I had to go in for blood work and ultrasound (about $800)...then on the 5th day of home testing for ovulation, I was supposed to go in if no surge. Ofcourse there wasn't a surge...so I go in, more blood work and another ultrasound (about $600 this time). I was told it doesn't look like the clomid worked, I only have one little follicle, but I should continue the ovulation tests at home for a couple of days and then call again on my day 1 or come in if I surge. So, 2 days later--I actually detected a surge. I go in--more bloodwork and another ultrasound (no bill yet, but I'm guessing around $600). I was called with the results--false surge is what I am told, but I should come in for more blood work. So, I did that this morning.
I am exhausted--the metformin and clomid just makes me want to sleep. The waking up in the middle of the night to pee--so I can have my 2nd urine to test between 6am and 7am doesn't help my tiredness. And, going into the RE at 6-7am for all of these tests so I can try not to miss work...also makes me so sleepy.
So...all of this. And I don't even get an attempt at an IUI.
I requested a packet of information on adoption yesterday. It's hard to know what to put your money towards....
Anyways...the RE wants me to go back on Saturay for blood work as he thinks it should mature at that point.
My LH is 5.5 and my Prog is .8
I'm new at this....do those numbers mean good things to anyone? (TTC for 4 years 3 months....seeing an RE for 8 months).
Thanks!
