One RE has told me that your CD1 is the first day of bleeding. I asked him, "what if I start later in the day?" and he told me that anything in the afternoon would push CD1 to the next day.
I started AF at 9 a.m. and called the RE office. They told me that CD1 was the next day!???! My Clear blue easy fertility monitor states that if you start AFTER your "set m button time" (mine's 6:30 am) then your CD1 is the next day. I know that when your counting ovulation cycles, that it's important to have the right start day on your cycle to be accurate, but I'm truly not sure when that is anymore! I usually start in the afternoon, so there's usually no question about my CD1. This new RE told me it's your first full day of bleeding. Don't you think 9 a.m. is considered my first FULL day?

My RE said CD1 is "first day of FULL flow, even if it is at 11:00 PM"

My Re said that it is the first day of full flow too. I usually spot 3-10 prior to CD1 so it makes it very difficult to calculate. I usually call my RE in the afternoon of CD1 and there is never a problem.

My RE says the first full day of flow also. He says if there is any question about spotting vs actual flow, that you count day 1 as the first day you need a pad, not just a pantyliner. He also says it does not matter what time of day you actually start, it is still day 1.

That helps a bit more. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who spends a day or more spotting. It DOES make it difficult to calculate. This, of course was my first cycle trying to set my Clear blue fertility monitor up too! Hope I got day 1 right.

I've been told to go off of the 1st sign of anything as the 1st day. So if I have a little spotting, the first day of that is how my cycles are calucalated.

That's how I've calculated CD1 in the past before I started with an RE 5 yrs ago. From the first day of ANYTHING. It's very confusing. How much DOES getting your CD1 right have an impact on fertility vs infertility?

I have been told CD1 is the first day with a full flow. I spot for 2 days which doesn't count and then on day 3, which is then my first full flow day, I start counting as day 1. Hope this helps.

Thanks for your responses everyone. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who seems to have been told different things. I felt a little stupid posting this, but now I'm glad that I did. Everyone was helpful to me.
