Ok- I have to start mine on Tuesday- those of you who have been on prometrium, did you insert the pill vaginally, or take it by mouth? My RE told me to do it either way. If you did it vaginally (which I heard causes less side effects) did it cause irritation? I was on endometrin last month, and it burned my hoo-ha, that is why I am switching to this. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!!

I have PCOS and took Prometrium by mouth for ten nights/month for 2 months before the side effects were too much. I couldn't deal with the stomach cramps it gave me. I don't really need it anymore since Metformin has started to regulate my AF. Hope it works better for you.

Yeah the drowsiness was insane! And I had the strangest dreams when I took it. And from what I have heard, it also made me talk in my sleep. It made things very interesting.

I have taken prometrium after 4 IUIs. I took it vaginally b/c the side effects were supposed to be less. It can get a little messy - I wear a pantiliner.

I've used it in my previous IUIs and they specifically told to take it vaginally. I didn't feel any side effects or anything but it was hard coz I had to make sure it doesn't come out when I use the bathroom later. Good luck!

I took it by mouth. I did notice it made me dizzy for a little while afterwards. I started getting up earlier and taking the pill and then going back to bed. That way I didn't feel sick. Good Luck!!

I took my third capsule tonight. I take them vaginally and they are not bad at all. I had progesterone suppositories a few years ago and they were just AWFUL. Very irritating and MESSY. I was dreading these when I first got them, but I've just made sure I put it in as far up as possible and it melts pretty quickly with your body heat. I've had barely any leaking and no side effects. Good luck!

I do mine vaginally since my RE said less side effects. It does not burn at all. I just have to lay there a few minutes before getting up to let it melt. I just wear a pantiliner in case of any mess, but it's big no big deal at all. Good luck!

I've been using it for 5 days now, I use them vaginally and other than having to wear a pantiliner - no side effects.
