My RE transfers the best two looking embryos two days after retrieval and in my case, the other two embryos were let out to blastocyst, neither made it. Whenever my doctor talked about blast, he always referred to under 50% making it. Some offices like letting embryos go to blastocyst because if those little ones can make it outside of the womb for 5 days, they have a really good shot. This makes fertility clinics have really good frozen transfer percentage rates. But, nothing they have now can replicate the womb and many don't make it. Others may have better info than me but this is just what I know and what my doctors told me. Best of luck to you!

I had 2 or 3 day transfers in my first 2 IVF's, basically because of the embryo quality. My 3rd IVF was much better and we did have blasts. My dr. transferred 2, they both took, but unfortunately we lost one at 8 weeks.
I was really scared to wait the whole 5 days for blasts but apparently it did make my IVF more successful. Best of luck!

I had a 3 day transfer my 1st IVF & got a BFP but miscarried at 6 weeks. A month later, we did a 5 day blast transfer. Our RE said that after 5 days they can tell so much more about the embryo..how strong it is, chances of implanting, etc. In fact, he would only transfer 1 back after studying the quality of the embies for 5 days. I am now 11 weeks pregnant.

We transfered 2 five day blasts. My RE told me they were "The best looking embryos" he'd ever seen.... Both took and one split...unfotunately we had some major complications with the set that split and at 23w5d we lost them..:( The other embryo that took continued on to a healthy pregnancy and we now have a very healthy 4 month old little boy.

hi,like courage2010 my RE also transfered two day2 embies,as i dont have a large reserve we can't wait for the blast stage,but what i heard is that a blast has more chances of implanting itself,but the chances for a live birth is the same for all,theres is no diference,i hope you get your BFP and a health nine months.

We transfer 2 blast on my first IVF but had a chemical pregnancy and on my second attempt we transfer two blast and now have a beautiful baby girl that will be 4 months old this week. Best of Luck!

I've had 2 IVFs so far both resulting in pregnancies and both were blastocyst transfer. The first IVF resulted in a beautiful little girl who is now 16 months and the 2nd, well, they're about 16 weeks and will be due in July. Needless to say, we're having twins. Goodluck on yours!

The theory behind Blastocyst transfer is that they are putting the embryos back into the uterus around the same time they would naturally arrive there on thier own. The sucess rates are typically higher, but wether thats because, of time or transfer, or that the low quality embryos dont make it leaving only the best quality to transfer, who knows?

I can tell you my experiance with my three FETs. Two 16 cell embryos transferred day three gave me a chemical pregnancy.
Another two 16 cell day three transfer, BFN.
Finally 5 day transfer of two embryos one blast, the other stopped dividing at 8 cells I am now 10 weeks with one little peanut.
