Hello DS sisters! After 4.5 years of TTC, 2 miscarriages, 12 medicated IUIs, 3 IVF transfers and one explanation that something is wrong with my uterus and I will never become pregnant, we are moving on to surrogacy. We feel very blessed to have this opportunity, and honored that my best friend has offered to be our carrier.
The reality is that my dear friend/carrier is just about to give birth, and then we need to wait at least six months after delivery before she can visit with my RE for her workup. Then it takes four months for approval. Then, we begin the transfer process with our two remaining frozen embryos.
So, the soonest we'll know if our carrier is preggo is a year from now, and the soonest we'd possibly have a baby is nearly two years from now. We have been actively, aggressively TTC for 4.5 years, so being forced to stop for a year is wonderful and torturous at the same time. Plus, I can't help but worry it won't work, and then we've wasted a year.
Has anyone else had a similar situation? How did you get through it and not drive yourself crazy about time passing and not doing anything?

As far as passing the time. Have you guys thought of taking a vacation before all of this starts to happen? That would be a great way to clear your mind and prepare for this new exciting chapter.
So we essentially wasted 2 years on the adoption/fostering plan. Then we found out IVF was covered by insurance where we were moving so we decided to give it a try again but had to wait and focus on getting moved. We spent 4 months in a hotel and waiting for insurance to get changed over. And then we had to get moved in and start our first appt in January. It seems like forever. But I don't regret the time lost. I feel I have followed the plan and learned so much about myself and my husband through the torturous journey. I really believe that there is nothing that DH and I can't get through. With the exception of the bitterness I like who I have become through the process.
Trust the process and keep your heart and mind open to new opportunities.
During the adoption/foster process we took a vacation to Mexico to kill some time before the foster classes started. And since moving I found some crafts and groups to keep me busy. I taught myself to crochet and knit so I can make lots of baby things once we have one on the way.
My sisters have both offered to carry for us... but I've been afraid to go that route... maybe I should look into it more...
