I just read a post in my asthma community, that if you google your profile name (ie: htag profile on dailystrength) your whole profile is open to the public! I just tried it because I couldn't believe it myself! SOOO, I just deleted a ton of my journal entries and pictures. I was angry that my life's pain could be an open book to others. Just letting you all know.

Yeah awhile back someone posted the same concern. We sent our concerns to Doug. You can make your journal "friends only" this way it is not open for the public. After pointing out the concern to Doug many members changed their screen names to things that were less identifiable. I guess there is very little that can be done---I mean this whole forum is open to everyone so I guess it is just one con to a great site.

how do you change your profile name without losing all of your friends on your list or starting over? I tried to figure it out and couldn't.

This was brought up before and a lot of people did change their stuff. Unless you use your name as your screen name, the chances of it being an issue are slim. As kyspier said, this is a public forum so the info is open.

Lock your journals and also don't use your real name. Doug can help you change your name. Pick the name you want and he will do it. I think he said this how they promote the site so. IDK good luck.
