hi ladies...
this is a bit of a vent! but advice appreciated...

after home ov kits showed i wasnt ovulating, and the gp confirmed this with bloods...
i had my first app at fertility clinic...

they said cos we've not 'actually tried to concieve' they cant help..

we've not actually tried cos of some anxiety meds i'm on...we were getting ready to try.

then the gp said i would not get preg without treatment..

so off i went to the clinic where they made me feel bad for being there...all they're doing is the bloods and an ultrasound, and even if its confirmed 'again' i'm not ovulating, we have to try for 6 months before they'll see us again...even though theres no way i'll get preg!!

also they said i have to loose weight before they'll even consider treatment...i'm overweight yeah, but i'm a size 18 for gods sake...a couple of sizes bigger than the average woman...

what will this ultrasound show, its a vaginal one i think...

and my progesterone is low, is there anyway to increase the levels naturally, maybe to kick start ovulation...

and also is there always a reason behind not ovulating, or do some women just 'not'???

You should read Taking Charge of Your Fertility. Its a book outlining how to track your ovulation naturally. I also purchased the online software to track my temps on my computer and chat with other women about it. Everything it says to do takes a little practice but the women on the website are very helpful and it really helped me figure out what cycles I was and/or WAS NOT ovulating. Message me if you have questions! Im sorry this is going so hard for you, but I think this is a good way to make the best of the 6 months you have to try on your own. Hugs. ~April

Are you consistently not ovulating or is it a hit or miss situation?

If you are consistently not ovulating, then I would seriously think about going to another RE. It doesn't seem right to make you spin your wheels when the most important factor to making baby is missing! And you should never stick with someone who makes you feel bad for trying to get some help.

There are a few reasons that no ovulation can happen...it can range from weight to hormones. The hardest part is all the testing. It took us four months just to get all the testing done before our first cycle.

I agree with phoenixdakota...get that book! I have the program too and it helps.

I had treatment for infertility and have now got two girls, I am also overweight but the doctor who treated me wasnt that concerned, I think it makes a difference if you go on to need IVF, then if you have it on the NHS you have to have a healthy BMI, if you're not happy with what they told you you should go back to your GP and ask questions, meanwhile start trying, if one set of bloods showed you arnt ovulating it might have just been that month, you may ovulate some months and not others so its still worth trying, dont get disheartened, lots of time i felt like giving up on life but now i've got my girls it was worth it, hope all goes well for you hugs Rachxx

They will scan you to look at your ovaries and womb to see if everything looks normal, there is a condition called PCO which can make you not ovulate or just ovulate sometimes, dont think you can make your own progesterone levels come up, sorry!

I went through fertility treatments also and im now 8weeks pregnant with Triplets. I never ovulated on my own due to me having PCOS. I also am overweight, but my doctor never made me feel like I should not be there. I also have low progestrone. My RE put my on Prometrium pills and then swiched me to progestrone suppositories which is am on until im about 12 weeks. I wish you luck! If you have any questions feel free to message me..

I would go somewhere for a second opinion. I am overweight, but my doctor has never said that should be an issue for me.

Also, even though we ttc for 1 year before seeing a fertility specialist, both my DH and I traveled all the time, and were only in the right place at the right time 3 months out of 12. My doc said our careers alone were a good reason to start treatment.

Bedside manner is SO important when going through this journey...
