Sometimes people trying to be sweet just need to think about what they are about to say before letting the words spill out of their mouths. 4th of July weekend we went to a family reunion for DHs family. I love them all, they are a great bunch of people. And most of them are genuinely rooting for us and ask if there is any news and that they are still praying for us whether it be pregnancy or adoption. Those comments mean a lot to me and make me feel better. DHs cousins wife trying to be sweet said 2 of THE STUPIDEST things on Saturday. #1 while holding her 8month old daughter (her 22 month old wandering around her feet) said "I know what you are going through it took us 6 whole months to get pregnant with Ryleigh(her 22 month old), we just kept trying and it wasn't working. We stopped counting days and she just happeneded!" and #2 "Enjoy this time you are having without kids cause once you have them you'll wish you could give them away sometimes. You never have any time to yourselves anymore" SERIOUSLY!!!! I want the chaos, I want the poopy diapers, the puke the sleepless nights. UGH! Some people really just don't think before they speak. I smiled and nodded cause I know it was just her way of trying to make me feel better about the situation, but GEEZ! Ok I'm done ranting now. Just had to vent a little.

Next time you should just tell her...you know I wish I had those things and it isn't any consolation to me that you find them miserable. I told my one SIL that when she said something like that to me. She hasn't said anything since.

Unfortunately, people in our situation just don't understand it. It annoys me to no end when people mention that they understand what I am going through because it took them five or six months to get pregnant (without medical assistance.) That is NOT infertility...grrr...just like when someone says "You can always adopt." Oh yeah...I will just walk into Kids R Us and pick up a baby. Sorry..now you have me ranting.

I understand your pain. I can't even being to tell you how many times I have had family and friends tell me.."you better enjoy this time without a baby","you can have mine", "I wish I could give mine away sometimes" and the list goes on. We pray and wish everyday for the things they take for granted. People are so very insensitive to our pain and struggles. They don't have a clue what we have to endure.

I agree with the other ladies. If someone hasn't been through this they don't udnerstand. Theya re ignorant and say the dumbest things. Think of them as a toddler. They don't know what they are saying. In most cases they probably think what they are saying is the right thing.

People who have never had TTC issues ~ they will never understand. Even if they really want to. They think they are seriously being supportive. I have told a friend before that it's better if we don't talk about it while we are going through all this. So now we don't discuss it anymore, but when we do see each other we have fun talking about other things. Hang in there.

I felt like I was reading my own post. People who are baby factories are the most inconsiderate and selfish people. I can relate totally.

You know, after having SEVERAL friends, say "You can have mine if you want kids so bad" DH finally said to one of them; "We don't want yours, you've already ruined it! We want to ruin our own." Shut her up!
I hate it when people say stupid things like it took me a whole year to concieve, it was really hard.........REALLY????? talk to me in 12 years! AFTER you have been on countless fertility meds and so on and so forth....then we can story swap! I feel your pain.

I want to re-phrase my first comment. Woman who are able to have kids are not all like that. It just seems to me they are the first ones to make the unnecessary comments that hurt. Only because they have no idea the pain that we carry every single day of our lives.

I hate that you had to go through that but it is so nice to know that I'm not the only one going through situations like that too and feeling like I do. We all just have to try and keep out heads up and get though day by day. We WILL get throught this with a miracle in our arms. We just have to stay positive and optimistic which is sometimes the hardest.

My sister said something like that to me once and I told her that if her kids were such a bother I would gladly take them down to Children's Services for her since I knew there had to be people ready to adopt right then and there. She hasn't said a word since!

We just all need to come up with some snappy comments for people like this. I know they mean well but just think before you speak.

Sounds like we had similar weekends. I was required to hold my cousin's baby, then his grandma (my aunt) said she thought she should "bar the door" so we didn't "try to run off with him" then transitioned right into So are ya'll still trying? I just love it. I mean I know my feelings were all stirred up from holding the baby but that really didn't help at all. Hang in there
