Hi,

I'm on my first IVF clycle and I'm at risk of ovarian hyperstimulation , my doctor is hoping bring my estrogen levels ( 3300) down to trigger maybe Friday and have ER on the weekend however he thinks that we might have to freeze all embryos and wait for a month.
Of course this is very disappointing , he is telling me that a FET is as efective as a fresh cycle but I always heard that a fresh clycle is better Anyone on this?

I had 2 fresh put in at the same time got a BFN had one FET put back and got a BFP! Hope this helps ease your mind!

Your particular clinic should have statistics on their success rates regarding both fresh and frozen cycles. In my clinic fresh cycles have a 55% pregnancy rate and frozen cycles have a 45% success rate. I am hoping to be in a similar boat as mholli as my fresh cycle with 2 put back was negative and I'm hoping the frozen cycle I'm about to start will end with a positive. Good luck to you. Hyperstimulation is no fun and painful. Your doc knows what he's doing and wants to give you your best chance for success. Good Luck!

Hoping that you feel better. Hyper-stimulation can be horrible, but high estrogen doesn't necessarily mean that you will hyper-stimulate.

According to my doctor a frozen cycle can be as effective as a fresh. Fresh embryos seem to have a slightly better chance of implanting, but the ones that make it to freeze are very strong. Of course it really depends upon your clinic and their procedures.

Whatever happens I hope that you get your BFP.

I was almost in the same boat as you. They gave me an IV infusion of hespan for an hour at a time over the course of 3 days (retrieval plus two more after). Luckily, it brought down my estrogen and I was able to do a 5 day transfer. Monday I got my BFP!
