I remember a dream I had as a little child. It was a room I could go to and escape and hide. I was the only one who knew about it. To get to the room you had to crawl into one of the cabinets in the kitchen and open the back of the cabinet. The room did not exist but it was a dream I had often. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar dream.
It freaked my parents out and they took me to a children's therapist. The therapist met with me one time and then told my parents there was nothing she could do because I didn't remember the dreams. The abuse started at 5.
By the time I was 10 I had trained myself to go to sleep and to control my dreams. That is when I started visiting the secret room. To this day, I can make myself fall asleep anywhere and then guide my dreams into a place I want them to go. Even when the dream starts going bad, it is like a switch that I flip in my mind and say...nope not going there and turn it into something good.
The door and secret room I believe came about as my escape when I spent weekends at my abusers home.
Side note....really wish that therapist had kept at it. My life might have been so different if she had discovered the abuse then.
