I posted in another support group what happened in the hospital and about how if I have a flashback while sleeping I have to relive the entire thing and cannot wake myself up and that I fight while having them. My hubby has woken up with bruises and scratches from it at times. I said that the only thing that probably saved me from from being sent to the psych ward in Nashville was the fact that I was able to get a hold of a friend and talk for a few minutes. Someone commented on my post that I needed to be locked away and that there was no place for me in society. I was already struggling with thoughts that it would be so easy to call it quits. And now it is even worse. I don't want to continue to fight any more.
Please be assured that anyone who makes such an unfeeling and stupid comment is the one who should be locked away for the protection of everyone else.
Please get a punch bag or something similar, draw a picture of this person on it and wallop it really really hard, smash it to smithereens. Focus your rightful anger on this asshole, not yourself.
We can't help what we do in our sleep, hun. If you have a lot of these, maybe it would be a good idea to sleep with a big body pillow between you and your husband.
I understand Prasozin is great for PTSD nightmares, though...so I would ask a doctor about that?
I want to tell you that a friend of mine used to have the same thing going on. She would have nightmares, couldn't wake up, she attacked her husband when he tried to wake her up or comfort her, and she was really struggling.
She is so much better now. She had a good therapist and worked through the issues. She doesn't have the same level of PTSD. She used to not be able to go to her mailbox, but now she goes on vacations with her husband and goes out in the community. Be hopeful. With good help and support, we all get better. When we run into unsupportive jerks who say we should be locked up, we have to turn away from that influence and seek out the positive.
remember people like that have their own fears and issues they are trying to put on you. don't let him get away with it. you are going to get better and better because you are reaching out for good support!
we are here for you. I hope you keep posting here and asking for support. we all need it, we all deserve it, and there are some wonderful people here who always give it. :-)
