Hi all,
I am posting because today I had another debilitating panic attack that really frustrated me. I had to go get some blood drawn for tests, I am BiPolar and medicated and must have my blood levels checked yearly.
I was taken to the hospital by my abusive father as a child on several occasions after physical abuse. These experiences were terrifying and have left me crippled with extreme doctor/hospital/needle phobias I have beeen struggling with my whole life.
This time I took a prescribed xanex, tried to do deep breathing, metal relaxation etc, but when I got there I still completely freaked, hyperventilated, sobbed, physically fought off the attendants who were trying to prep my arm, and concluded I just couldn't do it today. Some days are worse than others and this was terrible. I almost fainted, every time I do go through with blood drawn, shots, or other tests in drs. offices I faint and its really scary.
I have worked with my therapist, psychiatrist, and naturopath to try and get through these panic attacks but they seem to just be getting worse, especially as I have recovered memory of the initial traumas more and more recently.
I am so frustrated and feel crippled by my fear and anxiety. I have no control over these panic attacks and every time it feels like I am dying, like they are trying to kill me.
Has anyone tried hypnotherapy, acupuncture, or any other alternative methods that have helped? I am really desperate to find a solution. As someone who lives with a chronic health condition in addition to being a trauma survivor.... having a fear of hospitals is about the worst phobia I could be stuck with.
please help by sharing any alternative treatments for panic disorder and trauma that have worked for you!

Something I did that helped is that when/if I need blood work done, I go to a small laboratory instead of to a hospital. Some of those facilities are smaller and don't look like hospitals (and don't smell like hospitals either). That helped me.
I have had panic attacks but for other things. I hope my suggestion helps. Best.
