Years ago, I spent a year in a survivors support group. It was a great experience. It was run out of a hospital and run with protocols similar to rape survivors support group. I am again dealing with this and hopefully will find help and support with you like minded folks here.

Welcome, I also was in an SIA group and it was wonderful. There are none where I live now, but I do go to Al-anon meetings and they are usually helpful,

Welcome here, I havent been in a survivors support group before. This is my first one and I have found a lot of support here. I am just now remembering the abuse I went through and dealing with flashbacks and all that come with.

I have never been to a support group; would love to try it. I've been to some 12 step programs and my feelings are mixed. You can get support, but they are open to the public and not all are run the same way.

It'll be nice to have a well facilitated support group just for us.

The SIA group I belonged to was a 12 step group, but was not open to the public. It did not appear on any meeting lists, did not allow abusers and the only people in the group were invited. no one else even knew it existed. It was a very safe place.

I'd love an in person group as well, went to one years ago and it was mixed with victims and abusers, terrified me. I know a couple of women and have contacts for when I'm feeling low or when I need support but I really need a group. Dealing with feelings coming up regarding flashbacks and emerging memories, sucks! I hope you find the support you need here!

Just wondering, now that there is so much technology available, could it be possible to run some kind of conference call support group? Or chat? Or maybe video conferencing?
