I'm kinda sorry you went through this, yet happy that you realized how it would turn out and didn't allow yourself to be further hurt.I know it still hurts deep down, yet you handle it very well! I don't think that I am as much ok with it as i know that's all i'm getting from her. I want to know why....father is dead and mother is a witch..so i won't be getting anything from them....but what i have gotten from them is heartache and pain. I will now be able to finally focus on the child within that never had a childhood.

Good for you!!! I did the same thing with mine but she of course refused to take any responsibility. That is what they do.

Deny Deny Deny and if they have to admit to it- be prepared for an
"but I didn't know"- or "YOU could have told me". None of it generally is about helping you and all about being defensive for themselves.

My mother flicks between denial and saying she didn't know - and I have only just realised that these two positions are contradictory. Duh!

Oh - mine also tried to get my husband on her side by 'sympathising' with him on how difficult it must be to live with me behaving like this...(so neat - in one simple move telling him that he was suffering, she was suffering and it was all my fault). I still pat myself on the head for having seen through that one and pointing it out to hubby who had been taken in by her. My mother really would - and has done - throw me on the train tracks if she thought it would help her.

I think the denial is pretty common. But the victory is yours! As much as it hurt, you spoke it out-loud. I've been told e'thing gains power in the silence; you no longer have to keep it inside. When I was 47, I was stricken with rheumatoid arthritis and that's when I began to release e'thing I had held within; the hatred, the self-hatred, the wounds, the grief, the pain, etc. I have often shared with people during my healing process, no wonder I got RA; I had all those feelings stuffed inside of me that had NEVER BEEN RELEASED. You don't need your Mother's belief, you need your self-acceptance! and to me, that's what you are doing by being brave enough to give yourself a voice. Hugszzzz to you!
